GolGappe Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I agree. I don't think he will be very successful in the middle order. The Entitled Mr. Sharma needs to move down from opener's slot if they want to accommodate Pujara.
beetle Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Putting down Pujara ...aisse hee.Why do people need to put down one player in order to hype someone else? Continue your Uttappa rant...why put down Pujara?
vamos_rafa Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 No one thought Hashim Amla would be such a gun ODI player. Same can happen with Pujara.
Lord Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 its not like Rohit is going at 200 SR.his career SR is 78.Pujara can't be much worse even if he tried :cantstop:

kubrickian Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Better to have Pujara open and Rohit bat at 5 instead of Rayudu. I dont think Pujara will give us quick starts anyway. He will be a steady player who will play the anchor role.
Haarkarjeetgaye Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 may be. but still will be better than Sharma aunty
maniac Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 He will do well but I would play him at No5 not as an opener. That way he can steady the ship when a collapse happens. Also how good is Pujara at rotating the strike else he might find himself in the same issue that Dravid had in the early stage of his career?

He should play only if he is right for the position. If he bats at 5, he will be required to hit the big shots in the batting power play and slog overs which is not his natural game. Rohit is a better T20 player and he is good at hitting. He should play at 5.
cowboysfan Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 He has been set up for failure by both captains, why is he not getting a long run?
Silva Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 In non international List A matches Rahane, rayudu, and Rohit Scored a combined 8 centuries in 186 innings. Pujara has got 9 centuries in just 66 innings. Rahane and Rohit show flashes of brilliance but you look at their records and it clearly shows that they have issues in 50 overs cricket. Not sure why rayudu was even selected. With Pujara you would think he deserves a decent shot based on his record alone.
bowl_out Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 I'd even have Ashwin open instead of Rohit Sharma...At least he can play some strokes and get a run a ball 30-40 which would give Virat and other a decent platform to build upon
MCcricket Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Pujara is a very very good Odi player, he has very good numbers to show and also have seen him in zonal team scoring 120 plus couple of times at a 120 plus s/r and win games single handedly, he can be a match winner like Virat.
