Googly Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Going by what Kohli said, Both Rohit & Raina will be given more chances. Even if he gets back to form with Murali and Rahul Opening, and If pujara comes at 3, the scoreboard would be pretty static. Rahul and Pujara are almost similar type of players..woulld be hard to win matches
fineleg Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 1. Puj should get onto English county cricket for a full-term 2. He should get some mentoring from VVS Laxman and Dravid, Test specialists and Laxman dodgy knees, running trouble etc. 3. He should STOP wasting time with IPL which makes him lose form and lose the tight technique, even more. But then again like many others, he may choose to be a Badrinath-in-IPL, rather than a Dravid-in-Tests.
RedFever Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 It'll be interesting to see if he picks IPL over county stint this summer. He may pick IPL, but i dont think any IPL team picks him in the final XI
tweaker Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Pujara should ironed out his technique in the Ranji trophy. He can comeback as a rock at no. 3 position
bharat297 Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Pujara should ironed out his technique in the Ranji trophy. He can comeback as a rock at no. 3 position How can he iron out technique in a competition that never tests his technique? Tbh though, I'm not convinced his problem is a technical problem. In the last 14 months, he has consistently made starts and survived an initial period, only to get out in a different manner each time. I think with Pujara, it's part concentration (or lack of) and part confidence.
govinda Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 he would come good as we are playing at home for coming two years
Forever Indian Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Dropped for FTBs like Sharma and Dhawan. Not FTBs, more like Home Track Bullies (sub continent) as they could not even score on the flat tracks in Aussie tour...
helperononline Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 pujara should have played the match instead of rohit i feel kohli has some grudge against pujara
sscomp32 Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 pujara should have played the match instead of rohit i feel kohli has some grudge against pujara Naah, He is just a rohit fanboy.
Kalia_Test Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 If 5 bowlers is going to be the norm, then bad luck for Pujara :((... Rohit is hot property now and next couple of years, the Test matches are in SC conditions and WI ( not that Chepu set the world on fire in overseas matches ). His hope is that this 5 bowler thing is a one-off against Bangladesh.
rkt.india Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Pujara any day over ARSLOL. Even in SC. He is more likely to do well on turning tracks too. how could people forget his batting in Aus series. Especially on Delhi minefield and against England that 100 at Mumbai. I have started to dislike Kohli the captain.
Gollum Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Without Pujara we will lose to RSA this winter and get thrashed 4-0 against Poms next year.
swatpulla Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 He has gotten fat and grown an extra few chins. He used to be good, but in this fat avatar, I doubt he will do justice to his former self.
BeautifulGame Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 I don't mind this selection if it is one off becoz there is no one better at thumping minnows than Rohit . But fear is it seems Rohit is Kohli's no.3 long term .Pujara has been patchy at best overseas but at he has been exceptional .Even in tough turning tracks . We would be much more stronger with Pujara @ 3 against Sr Lanka and SA than Rohit imo.Rohit just doesn't give u that confidence even when set But Rohit clearly gas the backing at 3 for bow so hopefully he comes good .
zen Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Since Ind would be playing at mainly home over the next few years, the combination is likely to be 5 batsmen + 1 WK + 5 bowlers (unless the pitch is a rank turner or has some grass cover, in which case the team could play an extra batsman) So Pujara is basically competing for one of the 5 batting spots. Of the 5, the two openers slot are almost taken, and 1 is occupied by the captain. The remaining two are likely to go to Rohit and Rahane, and both of them could excel in home conditions Outside of subcon, Ind is likely to play 6 batsmen + 1 WK + 4 bowlers. Here Pujara has a chance, however is record his not that great outside the subcon. I remember he got a 100 in SA though. Don't remember how the pitch was in that game Pujara probably will have to wait for his opportunity. And make the most of it once he gets it. The good thing is that he can even open the innings or play down the order .... I get a feeling that Kohli could be seeing Pujara as some kind of a threat as if I m not wrong, he immediately dropped Pujara in one of the tests in Australia too :dontknow:
The Realist Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 Having finally got rid of the Dhoni-Jadeja axis of mediocrity it seems its replacement will be the Kohli-Sharma clique. What god gives with one hand, he takes with the other.
coffee_rules Posted June 10, 2015 Posted June 10, 2015 We don't pick two different teams for Home and abroad. We can't have Pujara come in for abroad tests and these HTBs get to play in home tests. In cricket batsmen excel based on form. If Pujara gets to sit in home tests, he will likelt fail abroad as well. We need to support the real deals in Test cricket. Not have horses for courses and keep selecting the same team for all formats of the game.

I have started to dislike Kohli the captain. Rohit is in better form. Very sensible move.
