How good was Rahane ?

I know Dhawan was the key. But when Kohli was out, I thought 270 should be realistic. Rahane comes in and plays a blinder. Looked in great flow. Actually gave India great chance to get more than 330 till lower order failed again.

Champion stuff. I would say it again. It was very similar to the knock played by Raina against Pakistan. Both got overshadowed by centuries by other players but Rahane and Raina both played equally great knocks. Rahane hit the ball so cleanly today. Other than one bottom edge, he just looked so composed and found it really easy to bat. Also, this one pull shot four he hit on the mid wicket was just pure class.

I rated Rahane very highly when he made that 100 on Lord's green top against Anderson and Broad. Today's performance did not surprise me, he is very good.

btw anybody else think that Rahane and Dhawan love batting with each other. There was a lot more fist bumping and hugging when they were in the middle. I have noticed that they congratulate each other as well when one of them does well in the field. Never saw that chemistry with Rohit from either of them (despite rahane and rohit playing together at Mumbai).

Looked like he was disappointed to not get a go in the last game. Was out there to prove a point and did that. Good thing is we discovered he has the 6th gear as well.

it's always a relief when Rahane comes to the crease for me (tests or ODIs) because he is so busy. The scoreboard keeps ticking and he doesn't get bogged down.

agree.i made that point during the odi series vs the lungans that both rahane and dhawan look comfortable batting with each other,their avg opening p'ship is very good
