Will create unnecessary pressure for youngsters Also what's the point of giving the legends a send in an away series ? If we want to really give a send off to these legends first ask them to announce retirement .Then play an exhibition match btw India team and legends of 2011 WC in Mumbai or Kolkata to give them a proper send off . This seems a half baked stupid PR stunt +1
jalebi_bhai Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 Bhai, Bangladesh post 2015 WC are a different side, they are playing with more conviction and have tasted quite a lot of success, they will wipe the floor with our 2nd string teams in limited overs cricket. But that isn't the main concern for me, you don't know/underestimate our senior culture. If these 4 play well they will start yapping in interviews about comeback, media will play the nostalgia card,public sympathy will be with them. Do you think our youngsters need this distraction? We have a solid base to become a top test/ODI team for many years. Don't want Yuvraj,Sehwag forcing their way into the XI this winter or Zak/Bhajji replacing Shami/Ashwin. These 4 are done. Want a send off, then host an exhibition match in India as some poster said. Fair enough. Frankly, I just want the team to win. To win, you need a balance of youth and experience. Shouldn't make the folly of going with only fresh faces.

By all report coming out they have not even started to look for a head coach (if at all , i am on favour of retaining the current staff) Multiple players including your captain pulling out. So India will search for a total newbie captain. Now they want to give has beens their send off?

zen Posted May 16, 2015 Posted May 16, 2015 I have not been following cricket lately so don't know the availability and form of the players, but if Kohli is skipping BD tour, make Sehwag the captain for the test and see how it goes. I recall the last time Sehwag captained a test vs. BD, he had made most of the right call including team selection .... If Viru strikes some form, then it is great, if not Ind would have someone experienced captaining the side and he can retire feeling good I am not sure about Zak's fitness level so he may be a good option for the shorter version. Same of Yuvi and Bhajji, who can be given 1 or 2 ODIs/T20s. Also this is a good opportunity to bring Nehra back in to international cricket for the shorter version as his fitness could be a question mark for tests. My 11 for tests would be like this: Vijay Raul (I hope I got the spelling right) Pujara Sehwag © Rahane Saha Ashwin Leg - Spinner Shami Yadav Aaron If the pitches are flat, one or two of the batsmen will get a huge score so it would be a good idea to go with 5 bowlers since guys like Ashwin and Shami can bat too under these conditions and bowling attack

Although with Kohli's absence, Sehwag can replace him in the only Test match. This is a ridiculous tour. The test match will most likely be a draw, so I don't see a big issue in giving a proper farewell to some of those players.
