Gavasker unloaded on them after the cameras showed a whole bunch of them watching the match instead of the stands.

This is what happens when you try to expand the game to the third tier cities.

Jamshedpur, Gauhati, Cuttack they have been known for hooliganism for years. Back in 1983 they threw stones at the West Indian team in Jamshedpur. Cuttack also behaved badly in 1988. Still not civilized enough to handle failures.

All the cities are from east zone.

Cuttack should at least get 5 years :ban:

Don't understand why spectators needs to do that. If the match is not going to what they were expecting...just get up and go. People leaving stands in the middle of the match is a bigger and better message to the hosting team that their performance sucks big time...& need to improve their overall game

In current day and age, there are many better ways of showing displeasure - that too if really warranted - not for a simple loss in a game.

Social media has made it easy to express displeasure on a mass scale without resorting to hooliganism. If you are even more angry, call for boycott of products that sportsmen endorse in SM and see if it catches on and pulls them out of complacency.

Anything is better than this stupid throwing of bottles and objects on the ground.

It would have been slightly logical had there been some bizarre decisions against the home country ( not acceptable, but difficult to control instant crowd reaction ). However in this case, the only reason the spectators behaved in such a way was because they did not get the monies worth, which is a real shame.

MS Dhoni, : “.... There were some people who threw the bottles inside the ground. When we do not play well at times you get such a reaction. We should not read too much into it. A section of the fans started this after our innings. Later, other sections also joined in the fun. I still remember once we had won a match in Vizag and still bottles were thrown,” said the India captain.

I remember similar thing happening in Rajkot when we were winning a match against WI.

The city itself should not be blamed for this incident and no restriction should be imposed on it in terms of hosting more international matches. However there should be a greater emphasis on security to prevent such actions from reoccurring. Bottles aren’t allowed in many other stadiums so a similar restriction should be enforced here. Not to mention that the police officers there couldn’t do much to stop the idiots from throwing bottles.
