Yuvraj should not be in T20

Recommended Posts

Let him fail properly. Give him the Sri Lanka T20s and the Asia cup. If he doesn't perform, don't select him.

He didn't cost us the game and people fail to realize that it was his 2 over spell that shifted the momentum in our favor at the MCG. The upside to an in-form Yuvraj cannot be ignored. If one of our seamers gets taken apart like Bumrah was yesterday, Yuvi can roll his arm and make up for them.

Appears as if UV almost goofed up again reminding us about the horrors of that T20 final, a gift to SL. In the highlights, 17 to get of 6 balls after needing 10 an over till Kohil was at the crease shows that quite a few dots were played when Ind needed to keep up the momentum

In a bilateral series, it is ok but in a WC KO match such things can cost India. Unless UV shows that he is in absolutely top form, Ind would be better off by going with someone like Panday, whose confidence would be high, in the T20 WC

Luckily, Ind has a couple of tourneys before the T20 WC starts so can see how things play out

And why India need 17 because he was on 4 in 9 ball when asking rate was 9 -10

Don't expect all teams will allow trash bowlers like Tye to bowl to him

And don't expect yuvraj to be 4 of 9 every time, this was his first match after a very long time for crying out loud

Yuvraj has redeemed himself. Really proud of him. Put under pressure with no international innings under his belt, he delivered and in what fashion. He needs to be in the odi team where he can get his eye in and get going.. Comeback straight into t20s not ideal. A true champion.

Ms dhoni moved up in 2nd t20 with no pressure but stayed back today when had to come under pressure. Not sure of the logic.

Simple, he wanted to let Yuvraj and Raina get a hit.

why yuvi didn't bat higher than msd in 2nd t20? Not enough net practise is a BS excuse. it seems lack of confidence in Yuvi meant him batting down the order which is fine but then why msd not come up this time in pressure situation? Anyway I might be reading too much into it. Let's see how this goes in the next few t20s.

Yuvraj has played many memorable t20 innings for India and one horrible one. To keep bringing that bad innings into play and hypothetically predicting what he will do or not do against experienced bowlers etc is BS.

bottom line is he played his part in getting us over the line. You can't predict how much someone else would have scored in that  watto over or the last over. Watto might have bowled well. He took a Maxwell wicket, had been fielding well in this series and batted us over the finish line when required. You can't ask for much more from this glorious seasoned campaigner in a comeback game when he very well knew if he doesn't get the win here, his career is over. Well done Yuvi..keep going.

Agree he came after long time , but what about IPL, ? IPL t20 has much better bowlers than this useless Aussie team and he failed .

Also you people forgot that t20 is young man's game , the more young players you have the better chances you have of winning it.and the worst thing is YUVraj is coming at time when he need 5-6 balls to set an eye on ball but those 6 balls can be deciding factors  in losing and winning

In international cricket, anyone over 32 yrs esp in T20 should be played on current form,  and not on potential or past laurels to make the team look good on paper

To appreciate senior cricketers, we have tourneys such as ipl where they can play as long as they like

Hopefully we will learn about yuvraj's form in the next series. And if he comes good then great. If not we do have players who can step in

Also I don't understand why IPL's performance is not considered to Judge Yuvraj . Bowling attack of IPL teams are much more potent than this Aussie team ,he failed against them

Many toimes I have read comments here that IPL should not be used to select for ODI's or Tests , but it looks like people are writing off IPL's performance for T20s

One very important issue is.....we don't have ready, young, big hitting batsmen to bat in the middle-order ( to convincingly replace Yuvraj ).

The names being floated around have never played any T20Is  and played very few ODis. I don't think it is easy for a captain to prefer unknown entities in a big tournament.

Which brings me to the point of team building with sufficient time left for the WC....which was not done.

Most of us here have been clamouring for trying lower-middle order big hitters in LOIs...but that has not happened till we tried Pandey in the just concluded ODI series. We know that he can play at a good SR and play strokes too...but don't really know about his big hitting ability lower down the order.

We should have played in LOIs players like Pandya, Pandey, Gurkeerat, Iyer, Hooda etc. in the last 8 months ...by rotation ...and checked them out, given then some international exposure. Even when they played, they almost always came very low down and mostly for a few deliveries.  Pandey showed what some quality time in the crease can bring out of a promising youngster.

Absolutely but that requires strategy and forward thinking from the selectors to the captain.

Don't even have a full time coach at the moment

A player needs self confidence and performances to back up so that he's not constantly under pressure of his place.  Yuvi needs a few knocks to get that confidence back so that he can play his shots freely.  In t20, at times you need to play freely without any baggage to be really successful.  If Yuvi is serious in coming back to form, he has to practice and train really hard.
