goose Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 The only reason he is in the Pakistan team is because of his hair. I'm not even joking. Book_Worm and adi B 2
Adi_91 Posted March 21, 2016 Posted March 21, 2016 (edited) Hmmm... Afridi is roughly my age and I have followed his career. When he had started off, he was phenomenal. And he was a typhoonin test matches too. On his day, he certainly can be destructive.Odds of him coming good are 1/100. That is his consistency rating as well. This is not good enough for any team. His bowling is the only saving grace. Even there, he has been poor for sometime now. Yes, for on field theatrics and off field statements, he is very famous. Edited March 21, 2016 by Adi_91 Stuge 1

When he had started off, he was phenomenal. And he was a typhoonin test matches too. On his day, he certainly can be destructive. Those days were over in the 2000s. He resurrected his career as a bowler who really bossed minnows and weak players of spin, but that too is ancient history for the last few years. At this point he is following in the footsteps of previous Pakistani "Seniors" who over-stayed their utility. They have a serious case of entitlement in so-called senior players - he just gets to have his way more that others because of his popularity with the "awaam". adi B and tweaker 2

paragkn Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 (edited) I am not a Afridi fan. But this is not the way, a national cricketer should be made fun of.Afridi on his day is destructive with bat as well as bowl.He has proved it many times, though once in 20-30 matches. But you cant expect him win matches alone.During Misbah times, Misbah was blamed for doing tuk tuk when every one else in team failed. Same about Afridi now, he is blamed just because its easy to blame him than admitting " We are crap batting side " or " Pakistan cricket is gone low due to lack good batsmen coming up from domestic circuits".Blaming Afridi is just a face saving move by Pakistanis. Its jus a futile attempt to show that " We are all good , only Afridi is reason for all mess going in our cricket"If Afridi retires today, its foolish to think Pakistan team will start beating all oppositions from tomorrow. Of course Afridi has share in the losses team had but he is not the only one to be blamed. Its selection committee , its the coach , its the team mates who failed to deliver in Top order or bowlers like Mohd. Sami who bowled NO BALLS in crucial point of match like stupid amateur cricketers.Pakistan fan has tendency to close eyes and blame the one who is easiest to blame for any blunder going with team. It was Younis , Misbah in the past and now its Afridi, may be Hafeez or wahab will be next. Edited March 22, 2016 by paragkn New guy and Rightarmfast 1 1

But Pakistan cricket mgt and fans have mastered it. Instead of trying take the positives, they keep on blaming their own players.
coffee_rules Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 for every other country besides PakExactly. I will be sad, when (or if) he retires. Where can I get my daily dose of LOL (they should name him Lola instead of Lala!). adi B and sandeep 2

adi B Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 I like lala,I will miss him.a great entertainer of the game!!
MechEng Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 The most carefree cricketer, I like his cricket. While Gavaskar, Boycott and Atherton keep talking about technical terms such as 'stillness of head', footwork, bat grip etc., Afridi gives a damn about it and plays his game like a proper street/gully cricketer. tweaker and Mahaa Raavana 2
putrevus Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Well we do have the most raw talent in the world. Why you so jelly popsicle?Really where did you get that information, and I have to say this though Afridi is a far better player than Jadeja ever will be. tweaker 1
CoverDrive Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 Afridi has ruined a generation of Pakistani batsmen I feel giving up on test cricket was a big mistake. He was actually a decent test batsman and it could have helped him moderate his game.
Sean Bradley Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 (edited) Only a board like PCB could have allowed a player like Afridi to have played for 20 odd years in international cricket and on top of that make him the captain of their national side. Seriously a ball eater, a guy who shamelessly ruins a test match pitch right in front of everyone and camera. He is a poser who has always loved to play for the stands and not for the country. PCB sowed a seed named afridi 20 years ago and and only reaping what they sowed. Get his @$$ kicked out your team asap before he dooms another generation of your cricketers and takes it beyond repair. Edited March 22, 2016 by Sean Bradley
rahulrulezz Posted March 22, 2016 Posted March 22, 2016 20 years down the line, We will have this article featured again all it need is minor edit i.e replace each occurrence of Afridi with Sir Jadejawe might make fun of Afridi but he is honestly ten times better player than Jadeja. Out of Jadejas 130+ innings and countless t20 innings, only ONE fifty came in a match winning course. Compare that with Afridi. He is match winner on his day. Jadeja is an inferior version of Afrdi and it's ironic we Indians make fun of Afridi when we have a poorer player in our team

And most importantly, we in India don't really rate Jadeja that highly unlike our padosis do with Afridi. An Afridi like player even if debuted for India would have hardly played a handful of games.
