What if Rahane or Manish Panday makes <5 runs

Based on current or recent form in T20, these two (Rahane or Manish Panday) are unlikely to make  more than 5 runs. So what are the options now (except getting knocket out).

With Yuvraj atleast we are guaranteed 20 runs and a wicket or two with reasonable economy every match. He also could mask Raina's poor performances.

I think with the loss of Yuvraj, it may be very very tough against WI at Wankhade.Bad news at the wrong time.

If Pandey fails, he fails. The best you can do is have the right players in the right roles/positions. It's not a guarantee for success but at least you are giving yourself the best chance to succeed.

It is the fault of team management , you always need back up players in cricket , you can't just blame luck for injury of 1 player who is performing averagely

Yuvi's innings in this World Twenty20 was like his innings in the final of 2014 World Twenty20. Never got off to a start and then got out. :((

Well, if you bring a player out of nowhere and expect him to score a 100, it is not going to happen.

I will happily take a 30 off 20 balls if he gets to bat.

Nobody's expecting a 100 from anyone. What people do expect is play according to situation, i.e. if quick runs are needed then he needs to be able to go from ball one. the problem with Yuvi was that he simply couldn't play that role anymore. He had lost the ability o hit out from the beginning and to take apart good bowling.

Yuvi is out of the WC http://www.espncricinfo.com/icc-world-twenty20-2016/content/story/992203.html

If Manish Pandey (with no Intl batting practice since Aus) replaces Yuvi, we will lose a part-time bowler. So, let Manish Pandey replace one of our opening hack (Shikhar Dhawan) and let Negi replace Yuvi.

This is a forced change (ideally our squad should have been well planned before T20wc), and I think India will struggle to go past WI

Dhoni is not going to drop Dhawan, Rohit, Raina.

Manish Panday has not played any international T20 and Rahane has been  poor in asia cup and warm ups.Negi can be under lot of pressure and go for runs. Dont know how good his batting is.

If Ashwin or Hardik get tanked, only Raina can bowl.No other options.

Its a tough situation losing Yuvraj. He was able to stabilize innings, build partnership with Kohli as well as pick wickets.

I think Dhoni will play Pandey, but India's bowling has to be very very good to win this game.

Yes Dhoni will continue to make the same mistakes. Negi is likely not ready at International class yet, and Manish Pandey has to play a WC semi all of a sudden, doesnt look pretty situation.

Dhoni has been leading India for 8-9 yr, when was the last time you saw him play a replacement ahead of someone in original squad. So lets not kid ourselves he is never going to play Pandey. Its either Negi who comes at 7 or 8 and bowls a bit depending on situation/pitch OR the more likely Rahane opens with Dhawan and Rohit comes at 4.

I think on one of the recent tours he did play a replacement, not sure, ICF-ers may remember

Have a good feeling Pawan Negi will play because he bowled well against WI in the warm up match.
