Players who should never play in T20s again

The batting Kohli apart has been shameful and the axe needs to fall on the tried and tested failures and those who need to be sent packing to the retirement home.

No more of:

Dhawan

Rahane

Raina

Yuvraj

Dhoni

Harbhajan

Nehra

Jadeja

Need to build a younger team that plays less cowardly cricket .

All these guys will turn it around come the IPL

This is just warm up for them for the major event

BTW - Nehra and Dhoni did pretty well this tournament. After Kohli, I would say they were the next best performers

Rest were passengers

Nehra and Kohli only two outstanding players.

dhoni ran very good and keeping good but his batting lacking firepower.

Dhawan,Rahane,Raina,Yuvi,Dhoni,Jadeja,Bhajji,Negi should be kept far far away from the T20 side.Dhoni's team selections are just too bad and he depends too much on luck. There is a reason CSK didn't win any IPL in recent years.Negi looks too weak & won't succeed in internationals.

dhawan, Rahane- not meant for this format

Rohit, raina- have ability but extremely inconsistent. Rohit s/r and dot ball% is worrying factor coz he has the habit of covering in the end but the problem he doesnt survive till the the end. They both basically didnt up only. Need to look for better options than them or else another wc they ll ruin our chances. N i presume next t20 wc wud be in overseas since last 3 Wc have been in asia.

Dhoni, yuvi, Nehra, bhajji- all wud have possibly retire by 2021 so no point discussing them. They shud all avoid taking part in t20 games from now on so we cud look for new players.

UV Dhawan & Rahane top of the list.

Add Raina and Jadeja..

Jadeja - Useless AR

Raina - Can't do shyte in sub continent pitches..Walking wicket 99% time :wall:

Need a major revamp of our batting - top and middle order. Problem is both our openers -Rohit and Dhawan have similar approach to batting. Take time to get set and then try to hit later, missing out on scoring runs in PP overs. Rohit is good enough to make it up in later overs on flat pitches but the same cannot be said for Dhawan. But Rahane is not the answer for that, he is even worse. So we have to look out for a replacement for Dhawan. Someone who can start hitting from ball one and give cushion for Rohit to get set and go big later on.

Coming to middle order - Raina is past it and is a sitting duck against quick bowlers for a long time now. Yuvi too is not the same player he used to be. Both need to be dropped. Dhoni is good enough to continue playing but not as a captain. If we lose early wickets Dhoni can come at 4 and he can keep the scoreboard ticking with his 1's and 2's along with Kohli. Pandya should be pushed up the order at 4 if the top order sticks around for say 15 overs. Need 2 more big hitters apart from Pandya. Jaddu is not a good enough hitter.

Which players - (top and middle order) do you guys think have the potential to do the job?

Iyer as a T20 opener.

Hoping to see Jai Bista as an opener in 2 years.

Deepak Hooda as a high SR lower-middle order batsman who can bowl spin.

SKY has matured as a batsman in the middle order.   Can hit big shots and has a good T20  SR.

Sanju Samson in T20s.

Gurkeerat Mann should be tried in ODIs.

What about Mayank Agarwal? Do you think he is good enough?

Yes Iyer, Hooda, Samson and SKY look like good options. Need a good pool of 4-5 big hitters who play fearless cricket.

Is Yusuf Pathan past it? Hopefully this IPL we will get some answers.

I haven't followed Mayank Agarwal's performances closely.

We have to see how Yusuf does in this IPL

Yes...this IPL will be very interesting from the point of view of new talent search for LOIs.

the problem is India hardly plays any t20

So when squads are named, the ODI squad becomes the T20 squad. Unless there is change in the ODI squad the T20 squad will mostly be the same.

Next T20 WC is also 4 years away. How about we just stick to the mantra of picking the most inform T20 players then?

next t20 is 4 years away and the WC is 3 years away?  Wow such a long wait in between.  would have been better so that they're 2 years gap between the t20wc and WC.  India should have won this one on home soil and we would have gotten the bragging rights for 4 years   So not a whole of exciting cricket in between I suppose.

There is the champions trophy in 2017 in england and WC in 2019 in england.

2018 is the only time no actual icce event. Who knows the greedy ICC might insert a T20 WC somewhere like the UAE in the interim
