Their contracts expired at the end of the World T20, and the BCCI had said it would put together an interim coaching team for Zimbabwe; June 10 is the deadline for candidates to apply for the role of India's full-time head, and the appointment process will be completed before India leave for the West Indies in July.

Bangar has also worked with Kings XI Punjab in the IPL since 2014, the first Indian to head the coaching staff at an IPL franchise. In his first season coaching the often under-achieving team, they made the final.

India play three T20s and three ODIs in Zimbabwe, starting on June 11. The selectors had named a largely inexperienced squad for the tour, which will be led by MS Dhoni, the only big name in the XVI.

The BCCI release announcing the staff appointments did not name a bowling coach for the tour. Koka Ramesh, a former zonal secretary of the Andhra Cricket Association, was named administrative team manager for the tour.

I have read of some of the present Cricketers taking guidance regarding batting from Praveen Amre. Guys like Rahane,Raina and Uttappa. He is considered to be pretty good .How come we never hear his name mentioned for coach or even assistant coach?

They aren't permanent appointments.

Yes praveen amre has been instrumental in technically helping a lot of cricketers and they have a lot regards for him. 

But at Int. level u cnt help a player technically much , there are more mental adjustment and less technical and thats were Praveen amre shud be associated with u-19 n NCA to help player technically at young level. In Int cricket u need some experienced who has gone through thick n thin and can share hi exp to help u. Since its a young side someone with lot of int exp is must specially helping with the strategy aspect. 

Even bharat arun has got lot of respect from younger player, but when our bowlers are goin for a pounding someone like akram, gillespie , zaheer in dugout cud be more helpful than Arun. 

 

Similiary in batting i feel someone like Dravid , Mahela would be a gr8 help to this team . This young team needs someone to help them against spin bowling as well and Mahela could be gr8 help to team in strategic matters as well.

He was a director....of some sort.

I'm a big Pravin Amre fan.  He was Dravid before there was a Dravid :).

 

Having said that, his resume and proven experience is more of a batting skills doctor than a full-on head coach.  Don't know much about Sanjay Bangar other than the fact that he was an extremely mediocre player who somehow gritted his way to the top.  Such players have often made good coaches.  Doesn't mean that it will automatically make him good, but he's got a solid track record as a team coach.  And was most likely doing all the heavy lifting the last couple of years while Ravi Shastri was putting on his shades and 'mentoring' the boys.

@sandeepRavi Shastri was the Director...He probably just directed the mentors .
