yes that too. Even Sran isnt trying to go for pace seeing Dhoni behind the stumps. Depends on what a captain wants from you.

The captain wants less pain and more chuski players.

The comment was not just about Sran. It was a general comment about bowling. Whether he bowls at 135 or 145, he will still have to move the ball and bowl accurately. As I said, 140-145 is an easy pace for batsmen these if they are not consistent or moving the ball.

Do you remember practice games in Aus, where he was consistently troubling their batsmen with bounce? He got batsmen beaten for pace when bowling short. It was streamed online.

It is true that after the improvement of protective gears and bats, just pace is usually handled by the batsmen. It is also true that almost all the top pacers , from the '90s onwards ,  have been accurate bowlers.

That being said....almost all the top pacers , whether they bowl 130 k or 135 k or at higher speeds......bowl or used to bowl with effort and have or had the ability to extract bounce and zip off the deck. This made them succeed in different conditions.

This is what I want to see from our pacers. Yes...I remember the practice match in Austalia where Sran bowled with effort and got some bounce. But he does not do it frequently enough. More often than not, we see him just placing the ball without effort. This is what I dislike about him especially because he has the ability to generate bounce.

On the other hand,  Bumrah is an accurate pacer but also bowls with effort and gets zip and bounce off the deck. I would like to see more such Indian pacers ....who bowl with accuracy and effort.  Ishant is doing it nowadays in test matches,  Shami in ODIs and Bumrah in LOIs.

Slower speed of sran in this odi series has more to do with his stamina I guess. He bowled 140+ in the ipl. Here he might have cut down on pace knowing he has to bowl 10 overs. The more he stays as part of indian team and bowls a lot, stamina is bound to improve.

One positive sign is the amount of swing he got. If he continues with the current rate of development, hopefully he can consistently bowl 140+ in around 2 years time. 140+ combined with inward movement to right hander can be deadly.

Also eager to watch unadkat in 3rd odi. Those who are making fun of him have not watched him bowl in the last ranji season.

Unadkat always bowls quicker in Ranji trophy. Even last time, I was hoping to see him bowl quicker after seeing him in Ranjji trophy. I remember he played against Aus in ODI series at home and was bowling around 125K and that was when he previously had bowled quicker in Ranji trophy.

JU got his chances and has failed to impress.

Sran has potential to be a better bowler. Only future will tell.

We can hope for Sran to become a good bowler......it will take a miracle in case of JU.

Both bowl at a similar pace and lack stamina for international cricket. Don't know whats the issue with Unadkat. If he had been bowling 135+ on average in domestic cricket, then should have comfortably bowled 137-142 at least in a T20 match against a minnow.  Judging on the basis of his current ability only, Sran may swing the ball in favorable conditions but I don't think he's got what it takes to be a star performer in ODIs. Also, would be entirely useless in test cricket.

Sarns yesterday bowling does prove that he is the one to be invested on for left arm pacer position. He does have the knack of getting wickets.

I thought unadkat improved a lot after seeing his bowling in Ranji. He was pathetic in the first t20. Hope we never get to see this guy and the likes of dhawan and dhawal in Indian colour.

Hope Sarn does improve his pace as he bowls more and more and build on his stamina. He said in a post match talk that he purposefully reduced pace in this series in order to maintain a good wrist position for swing.

Hopefully selectors tryout aniket as well in A team.

I am really happy to see Sran getting that inswing to right handers going. I am not worried about his pace. I know he can bowl 135-140k range. In the last two games, he has concentrated on swinging the ball and when ball swings, even 130-135K pace becomes hostile. I had not seen this kind of swing from him before and that is what I was hoping him to improve upon. After so many years of watching cricket, one thing I understood that you bowl 130, 135, 140, 145 doesnt matter to batsmen. These days, they dont feel uncomfortable against this pace. So, if someone is bowling 130 or 145, one will be successful only if he has good control and can move the ball or gets extra bounce. Pace troubles batsmen when it gets above 145K, more so upwards of 150. Bowler then has a bit more leeway. So, I dont want a 140-145K erratic bowler, I want a 135K good bowler. 140K plus might look good to see on TV but of no use if not bowled well. A combination of both is great but we are yet to find one.

He looked a much better bowler in Zim. But his fielding a serious concern though

It is sad to see Pawan Suyal has lost out,he could have been a great left arm fast bowler for India. If Unadkat is able to perform in domestic cricket,he is always able to break in the national squad.

Suyal is not in the playing 11 most of the times for the Delhi team. He is 26 yrs old now and he needs to move to some other team soon instead of wasting his time in the Delhi team.

true he wnt be selected unless he puts up domestic perfomances and his bowling wnt even improve if he doesnt play.

To be honest its going to be extremly extremly diff for him to make the cut now. The guy doesnt even get a chance in any ipl 11.
