It's a good time to give a go to a new pacer (Shardul). Leading by 2-0 and other 4 bowlers being consistent and fairly in-form (Kumar, Shami, Ash, Jaddu), there won't be much dependence or pressure on the new bowler. Ishant who hasn't been great anyway gets a bit of a break and we get to have a look at a new pacer.

Even Vijay playing in place of Dhawan seems doubtful under Captain Virat

If Virat does not play Vijay in this test,then we will know that he is thinking more about personal equations  rather than the team. It is a test of his maturity and character because he really has no reason to keep Vijay out of the playing eleven if he is fit.

Are you effing kidding me?  The greatest fanatical supporter of the wicket thrower wants to hide the majestic batting talent that can change the match in a session behind Ashwin who is at best a bowling allrounder?  :laugh:

 

Btw, Maniac, the object of your affection has gotten 2 out of the 7 chances that you were asking/begging/demanding for.  And is likely to get a few more.  Let's keep an eye on what he does in terms of runs.  Care to make a prediction on what he will provide for Team India - Can we at least expect 300 runs?   How low a bar do you want to set for the most talented wicket thrower the Indian team has ever seen?

It's actually 2/8 and he did well in one of those :p:

 

See I am an Indian fan first.......I was a big Kapil Dev fan and then a Sachin bhakt....but when their time was up,their time was up....we move on.

 

I have had plenty of arguments on Ishant too and I tried to explain to people why he is needed even when he was not getting wickets....now the hate has subsided...people were saying how some domestic trundlers are better than him...now point is proved...the guy still doesn't get wickets by a truckload,but has proved his utility....as I said replace Ishant in the current line up with another seamer and our bowling won't look the same...sometimes cricket is not always about stats....it's almost like my own Moneyball theory :money:

 

EVen though not possible I want India to win every game and pick a squad with an intent to win games,not save them or grind opposition out.

Yeah, tend to agree with most of that.   Ishant has failed to live up to our expectations.  But is definitely worthy of his place in a 3 man seamer attack.  People forget how bad our 3rd seamers used to be on away tours.  I mean really bad.

In the last 10 matches before he got injured , " Vijay has 779 runs at 48.68 with two hundreds and four fifties. In the last two and a half years, Vijay has racked up 97 in Durban, 146 in Nottingham, 95 at Lord’s, 99 in Adelaide, 144 in Brisbane, 80 in Sydney, 150 in Fatullah, 82 in Colombo and 75 in Mohali. "

I think the above numbers will translate into victories for the team, if Rohit or Vijay can recreate them, since Vijay has done it before one would tend to believe he can do it again.
