In 2015, the hardware was also deployed to Russia’s Arctic region, and in Syria at the Russian Air Force base in Latakia. The first foreign buyer of the S-400 was China, with the deal announced in the spring of 2015. According to media reports, the transaction amounted to about $3 billion.

Apart from S-400, a deal on the production of 11356 project frigates for the Indian naval forces is on the agenda of the two leaders’ meeting, according to Ushakov. The ships belong to the latest class of destroyers and six of them are soon to join the Russian Black Sea Fleet.

Earlier this week Russian Minister of Trade and Industry Denis Manturov said New Delhi had sent an official request to Moscow to begin joint production of civilian aircraft for India. He said there are plans for a joint venture to produce and supply Ka-226T utility helicopters, a new version of the light multi-purpose Ka-226 helicopter, capable of carrying up to 1,100kg payload in the cabin or on an external sling. Ushakov on Friday confirmed that an agreement to build up to 200 Ka-226T helicopters is on the leaders’ table as well.

India has been a traditional buyer of Russian arms since the 1950s. Over the last five years, about 70 percent of the country's military purchases came from Russia.

India is Russia's especially privileged strategic partner. Our countries actively collaborate in the military technical field. Russia remains in the lead in terms of both direct supplies of most advanced weapons and military equipment and conducting joint researches with India, as well as producing goods for military purposes,” Putin told Rossiya Segodnya and IANS news agencies on Thursday ahead of his visit to India, praising bilateral relations between the two nations.

The leaders are set to sign some 18 documents, Ushakov said. In addition to the bilateral agenda, Putin and Modi are expected to discuss the situation in Syria, Afghanistan and other countries, as well as the global battle against terrorism.

The meeting will take place in the Indian state of Goa on October 15, ahead of the BRICS summit.

The Russian delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin and the heads of Industry and Trade department, Energy Ministry, Ministry of Economic Development, Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation and several others.

After the talks Putin and Modi will take part in laying the foundation stones for the third and fourth blocks of the Kudankulam nuclear power plant (NPP) via a video conference call. The power station is currently being built by Rosatom as part of a deal signed between Moscow and New Delhi back in 1998, with the first unit already put into operation in August this year.

once these gadgets are operational , we can conduct surgical strikes in karachi and lahore   :woot:

considering the range of these systems , we can keep one system near the border and able to  shoot down their fighters flying inside their own territory :aha:

The S 400 is a game changer. Its 400km range means all forward Eastern bases of PAF can be targetted from within Indian bases.

yep .. though padosis dont have any reliable means to deliver their nukes , they are still a threat..

this will neutralize their nuke threats

Few months back, Iran got S-300 on other side of PAK border. I think S-300 is good enough to defend any jet Pakistan has including the ones NOT for sale  like F-22. which it may get a hand on in future.

So either India or Iran can make Pakistan a no fly zone

To be the bearer of bad news but you have to be very naive to believe these systems can stop an entire air force

The phalcon systems more handy

But isn't this surface to air ? Phalcon is air to air ? You can't always have air to air depending on weather conditions. Also phalcon is a warning system this is a defense system.

These are our LRSAM.In addition we have Barak 8,Aaakash,S-300,SPYder and Indian AAD system.

There are talks of getting Israeli David Sling as well.

And Phalcons are AWACS.These are BMDs and SAMs.

Not just s-400, hopefully fgfa, super sukhoi's, helicopter , and many more, read somewhere that their are 30 projects which might get finalised.

The problem with the s-400 is the system and the missiles are so damn expensive. Half a billion for one system each interceptor costs 1 million dollars.

They can be attacked with cheaper cruise missiles and decoys combined.

S 400 has 8 launchers which means only 8 shots before reloading.

A barrage of numerous inexpensive cruise missiles and stand off decoys could destroy this billion dollar system cheaply.

And that's not even mentioning attack with a ballistic missile with multiple mirv'd warheads and decoys.

Interceptors would be rapidly expended.

How would know the location of this system to attack with a cruise missile ? This is mobile isn't ? All top tech stuff are expensive in the beginning. I am sure there will be lot of bargainin g going through back channels. Again sending cruise middle in to other country's territory is declaration of war. There will be missile shields as well in place.

one platform can shoot down 36 targets .. i think we will dedicate 3 platforms for pak and it makes us to defend 108 targets

and if i am not wrong we will be buying 2000 to 3000 additional missiles for this ( sure it takes time to reload )

but this initial time gives more than enough warning signals to us to nuke your cities

$ should not be seen a problem .... Ind should aim to create a highly capable anti missile and anti aircraft system

You wont see Pak PM running around Russian consulate and UN headquarters protesting their military or economic ties and demanding isolation. Did India asked US permission before signing this deal ?

No, you see Pak PM and their lackeys get bent out of shape from their 'muslim ummah brothers' in Dubai, Saudi etc. when they host Modi.
