Malcolm Merlyn Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Pakistan have demanded financial compensation from both the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the losses incurred following India's refusal to play the neighbouring country, Najam Sethi, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) executive committee chairman, confirmed on Wednesday (November 9). "We have mentioned it clearly to BCCI and ICC in recent meeting that either India should play cricket with Pakistan or compensate us for damages," Sethi was quoted as saying by the Dawn. "We have also demand compensation from ICC as the PCB is suffering financially because of non-fulfilment of the BCCI's commitment to play cricket series with Pakistan," he added. BCCI had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the PCB in 2014 in which both involved had agreed to play six bilateral series between 2015 and 2023. However, the political turmoil between the countries played its part in the countries not wanting to play each other. So much so, Anurag Thakur, the BCCI president, even requested the ICC not to place the two sides in the same group during global tournaments. The India board had sought consent for a limited-overs series against Pakistan in Sri Lanka last December, however, the Indian government did not grant the same, due to which it was eventually canned. The last time India and Pakistan played a full Test series was before the terror attacks in Mumbai in 2008. http://www.cricbuzz.com/cricket-news/83906/play-cricket-or-compensate-for-damages-says-pcb-chairman-najam-sethi tweaker 1

sandeep Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 PCB better be careful - BCCI is a bit pre-occupied with Lodha and all. But this public 'war' against BCCI will prove costly to them long-term. BCCI babus are not going to forget.

mishra Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 i.e. Give PCB some money. Cricket or No Cricket
gattaca Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Pay them in 500 notes. sandeep, maniac, Adi_91 and 2 others 5

putrevus Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 I do not understand this logic of Sethi, just because MoU were signed, BCCI without approval of Indian govt will not play Pakistan. It shows PCB in such a bad light, it just reaffirms one thing which everyone in India knew PCB is in it only for money and have no bloody interest in promoting the game or harmony between two countries.

Malcolm Merlyn Posted November 10, 2016 Author Posted November 10, 2016 And why should ICC compensate PCB for India not playing them?
kosingh Posted November 10, 2016 Posted November 10, 2016 Good time to give them all our 500 and 1000 rupee notes as compensation (half of which came from them anyway). tweaker 1
Vilander Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 This was such a lol news when i read it first couple of days back, but all the Trump news and surgical strike on black 500,1000 and Indian economy news got me interested in them instead. Lousy beggars, they told kelearly but did anyone give a rats arse about what they said kelearly ?
sandeep Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Pakistan has to learn this lesson sooner rather than later for its own good - hostility with India is just not in its own interest. Whether its cricket or Kashmir. If they don't, then they can continue to wallow in insecurity, paranoia and poverty while rest of the sub-continent moves on.
Malcolm Merlyn Posted November 11, 2016 Author Posted November 11, 2016 India should also say that they wont play Pakistan in artificially created matches of ICC.If ICC forces them then they will simply boycott the tournament.
Cricketics Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 I really want to beat the hell out of Pakistan 3-0 in Dubai and won't mind a series against them.

The cricket fan in me would absolutely love an India-Pakistan series - it would be good contest and a lot of fun. But we have to understand that an India-Pakistan series is a $50 million gift to PCB. We don't have too many options to put pressure on the Pak govt to roll up its 'non-state actors'. Have to use this lever ruthlessly. The willfully blind Pak public must realize that if they want "normal" relations with India, then make their government go through detox and give up its abnormal addiction to terrorists. Asim Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 btw I just wonder why people like Sethi (widely respected and considered as one very 'smart' n sensible journalist, senior TV analyst and writer etc, whether or not u agree with his views) accept such jobs which, even they themselves know, r certainly goin to damage their name and reputation... moreover when its conflicting with your actual work; journalism bcz now even his political analysis r not considered as unbiased since everyone know Nawaz sharif personally almost fought for his appointment, that too without any criteria...
