His popularity was magnified because he is from Delhi and thus media acted as a force multiplier for him. Even Arnab said that he helped promote him. People like Jayalalitha, Banerjee, even Lalu Yadav were far more relevant to Indian politics. 

 

A lot of his popularity decrease is due to the view that he takes U-turns consistently on issues, especially regarding corruption, the issue he rode to power on.

They both have got it wrong here . Infact politically this  a masterstroke by BJP , they knew that this was an extremely hard decision which will result in lot backlash and lot of people sitting on fence may not vote for BJP if elections are held now ..but the timing is near perfect , they get another 2.5 years to fix things , if everything works out as plan the positive effects of this will start showing may be in 18-24 months when its closer to next elections . Two big factors for middle class , tax incentives and home loans ..they will most likely change the tax bracket either FY17 or 18 budget , could be a big change depending on how much the tax base increases and Interest rates are anyway expected to nose dive ..so more money in the hands of middle/upper middle class a section which voted them into power . 

 

On the other hand , these idiots who are blindly oppose this move are exposing themselves may piss off a lot of their supporters , end of the day every one knows the intent of this move is good ..Akilesh Yadav and Nitesh kumar have been only the smart ones imo

^ Extactly Rads, people are willing to change because they want to earn honest money. Way to go. What I fail to understand that why few idiots are so worried about poor people. What they heck they have done for them in 60 years of their rule. Poor person was only watching the game of loot for all his life played by these same politicians.

First time he is smiling that somebody came to power who looted all the CHORS of the country overnight. Poor person is indeed in the box seat to enjoy this. All the honest people are enjoying this.

The bolded part might be the reason why he wanst to be in the media all the time. Otherwise no one gives a damn about him.
