Saha certainly isn't a long term prospect. He'll get the job done for the next year or so. But he is going to be 33 this year. One of the youngsters has to emerge in this period where Saha is alright as a stopgap arrangement.

Yeah but i think he is the 2-3 year option. Perfect amount of time to let Rishabh and Ishan develop.

Tell you what KT, if Dhoni had walked out to bat instead of Saha in Adelaide 2014 we would have won that match which would have also changed the way the rest of the series went.

Also the overseas 100 by an Indian WK is extremely rare, only done twice before Saha : once in 1953 by Manjrekar and then by Ratra in '02(Ratra's overall average outside Asia being 18).

Dhoni also has few scores of 80+ so why the fuss over 10-15 extra runs. If you remember he was left stranded in the 80s against England in the 5th test in 2014 when whole team was bundled for 150. Also drew a match in England in 2007 which then led to us winning the series in the next match.

Yes his overall record overseas is mediocre but then that's the trend with Indian wks traditionally.

To be honest agree with all of that .

apart from would have won in 2014 Adelaide . Who knows ?

"Wriddiman Saha was out of the team because of injury and not because he was out of form," Prasad told the Sportstar. "He was the Man of the Match in the Kolkata Test against New Zealand and got a hundred in West Indies. I am happy how Parthiv [Patel] has responded to the call-up.

"He is a fighter to the core. He single-handedly brought Gujarat from nowhere to being the Ranji champion. He is among our scheme of things. There is just a minor difference between the two. When it comes to Test cricket, it is always the man who keeps better gets the nod.

"Parthiv's glovework has definitely improved. But Saha has got better hands and that's where he scores little more points than Parthiv. With today's batting, Saha showed why he is the No. 1 keeper-batsman in the country. When he came out to bat yesterday, the team was struggling at 63 for 4 and to take the game away from Gujarat is phenomenal. So it's a healthy competition between the two." http://www.espncricinfo.com/india/content/story/1079413.html

And how many catches he dropped or stumpings he missed off spinners? Zero!!

Saha in fraction of time already has tons of such drops/misses

Dhoni didn't even go for catches saha does of pacers. That matters a lot overseas.p.s. Dhoni used to miss lots initial years which got over looked because of his batting. He got polished after couple of years in international

Not really. Dhoni struggled to play even Symonds on 2008 tour in that SCG test we lost. He struggled to put bat to ball at Sydney in the drawn test last tour. There is a reason he retired mid-series because he was finding it very difficult to bat. Yes, if we had such a situation in an ODI, huge possibility Dhoni would have done that but in tests, not really.

Just as I will call BS on Sidhoni who's exaggerating Saha's flaws on the keeping front, same goes with this argument.  Facts prevent you from arguing that Saha is an upgrade overseas with the bat compared to Dhoni.  I like Saha and his contributions to VK's test team India.  But he's no batting upgrade compared to MS.  And a ton on a dhoos caribbean track against domestic level bowling by the Windies doesn't change that fact.

dhoos track, on the same track we were 5 down for nothing. It is not like Saha scored 100 when we were 400/4 and the bowling attack of Gabriel, Joseph, Cummins, and Holder isnt a domestic level bowling on a good bowling pitch.

That's comfortably the worst pace attack in international cricket bar Bangladesh.

True.

when posters don't like someone on icf, if that person does really well people just diminish it

yuvraj scores Ton odi . Don't count as at home one flat track ( kohli done same thing icf would be flapping)

dhoni scores ton odi . Same as above

Saha scores overseas test to . O windies rubbish ( what dhoni never played on flat tracks v mediocre bowels ?)

saha scores unbeaten double Ton in Irani to get the win . ( pant had done this 6000 posts on how amazing the knock was )

ps i also high hopes for pant , just saying
