He was useful when conditions suited him. At home, he averaged 62 with an ER of 5.63. He last played for India in ODIs in 2012. Imagine if he was playing now, it would have been even worse. His overall ODI average is 36. All, I am saying is several people including likes of cricketics have a perception that PK was good while he was not. Just because he did well in 2 games in CB series in 2008, it does not make him. Even Ishant was unplayable in that series.

He is always bigging up pacers who are medium pace and I just replied to his comment that "even PK has won us CB series" while actually it was Ishant who did all the hard work till finals. I didn't mean he only did well in 2 CB series matches.
King Tendulkar Posted January 19, 2017 Author Posted January 19, 2017 Can someone list top 15 seaming wicket takers in this years ranji ?

He was given enough time. He just did not develop himself much. That is more his fault than anyone elses. Boult and other guys like Southee were picked earlier too but you can see who has worked harder and are better. Even when they come bowl in India, they look better than Ishant.
fineleg Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 (edited) Yes but been a huge disappointment given num of Tests, ODIs, very poor returns. I agree , if good pacer, develop them early, in general. Edited February 23, 2017 by fineleg
mancalledsting Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Yes definitely- throw them straight in and let them gather experience at home and abroad rather than killing them on Ranji pattas. It's not as if we've traditionally had world class seamers and therefore taking a punt for indian quicks is justified. Same policy worked well for Pakistan during their golden era e.g. wasim and waqar Bystander, Mosher and speedheat 3
King Tendulkar Posted March 19, 2017 Author Posted March 19, 2017 So Cummins played one test back in 2011 been injured ages . And in return from injury plays only one fc game and straight in to Aussie test team in this game there not sitting there pouring over his fc stats . They see the pace and potential why can't we do same and pick aaron Lannister 1

We too need to find pacers who combine pace / bounce with skills and ability to set-up batsmen..... irrespective of their FC stats. I am not really sure how skilled Aaron is nowadays. speedheat Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 Any bowler who clocks 90mph consistently should be called in to have a go in nets.. irrespective of his stats mancalledsting and express bowling 2
mancalledsting Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 True- he should at least be used for training purposes and preparing for quicks in the opposition

He was trying to set up the batsmen with bouncers and swing and not just the pace. Aaron doesn't have half of those skills and it's not that Cummins has developed those skills in international cricket. sandeep 1

Cummins was quick but sprayed it around when he debut,he learnt the control aggression swing through his experience in internationals Talking about varun Aaron he has all the ingredients in him, he is quite capable of setting up a batter and then cleaning him : just watch him clean bowling moeen Ali on youtube Its luxury to have a bowler like him in queue but unfortunately initial part of his career is ruined by injury's and then dhoni acting as captain cool and mixing csks in team india Mosher 1
CG Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 You always have to look at FC stats along with pace and skill. As no bowler has better his FC average by a long way in history of cricket.
