sandeep Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Jadeja hit 14 runs off the last over in the 2nd ODI, and India won by 15 runs. Took out Jason Roy once again, when he was threatening to run away with the game - 2 games in a row - he restored control to India with his suffocating accuracy. Arguably, he had a hand in Ashwin getting Root out as well. But Sir is a magnet for criticism and dislike - because perception and fan sentiment outweighs reality. Masquerade 1

How about comparing these on the bowling front then? Stokes and Ali would look like relegated Ranji players next to an all-star.

Let's see. Both have played 45-50 innings and scored 1000 runs. Even Jadeja has done done that - 1000 runs in his last 48 innings and he has remained not out in 21. He is obviously done better than them with bat. He is easily better bowler them.

While there is no doubt that Stokes is a world class bat.....He has 3 5 wicket hauls and 3 4 wicket hauls in test and one of the 5 wicket haul in India and 1 4 wicket haul in Dubai,Has 4 and 5 wicket hauls in SA,Eng and Aus....so that is Top 5 test teams right there. Hardly what qualifies as a batsman who "bowls a bit" On current stature again I repeat if you missed it...On current stature only a empty head devoid of any cricketing acumen would pick Pandya over Stokes. Pandya has the potential to be the best...again 2 different things but not on current stature. Pandya has still done nothing at any level...just made some good contributions that's all....stokes has actually won games.
maniac Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 ^Just to add Stokes also has a 5 and a 4 wicket haul in ODI's

Lol...India would grab at the chance of having a player like Stokes, and this same Moeen who ran rings around India when India were last in UK. no doubt Jadeja has done well in last few years but I feel he still underachieving with the bat, can offer more, not many score two triple hundreds at first class maniac 1

Tubelight, why are you dragging Pandya into this Jadeja discussion on ODI bowling? If you wish to discuss Pandya and Stokes, go to the other thread. Where you claimed that Pandya is a limited player and will not win any matches for India. And get this into your empty vessel before you make more noise - Ben Stokes is an ordinary bowler with the white ball. Check his performances for the last year or so. He bowls hardly 5 overs a game and gives up at least 6+ runs an over, and barely had any wickets to show in a dozen games. By definition, in ODI Cricket, he's a batsman who bowls a bit. Pandya, despite not doing much, and still learning, has already surpassed him in that format with the ball.

What Stokes has achieved in test cricket doesn't mean much when discussing ODI capabilities. Reality is Stokes is a rubbish ODI bowler and meddling batsman averaging below 30 despite batting at 5/6 in his career. Heck even in test cricket ,if u dig through his stats ,most of his better batting performances have always come in draws when wickets are flat conditions are easier to bat.In matches England won or lost he averages just 27.Only thing agreeable is that he is a very good test match bowler . If u seriously pick Stokes over Pandya in T20s u are clueless and ODIs it's debatable but Pandya is a superior bowler. As for Jadeja ,he would walk into every team in international cricket today as a bowler alone in both tests and ODIs .That's without considering his lower order batting and world class fielding. Stokes on actual performances in not even comparable with Jadeja .

Unleashed Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 Jadeja still underachieves with bat tbh, the range of shots and the power he has means he should be hitting fast runs more consistently apart from that he's a terrific asset in our team. Our best fielder by distance and his bowling is getting more and more recognition throughout the world. To have figures of 10 overs and 44 runs in a match where 710 runs were scored is *ing ridiculous. Only morons continue to underrate him. Lord and chewy 2

As I said he is just a better than the decent parttimer...Yes No2 test spinner in the world which is the greatest mystery ever. His bowling can cost us games on his bad day. His plan B in ODI or T20 cricket when being hit is to dart faster and faster. "Just better than a decent part timer" is your description for Jadeja's bowling? \Have you been living in a cave for the last two-three years? I think it's time to start following a different sport buddy, Cricket isn't the game for you.

That doesn't mean there is no room for improvement, mainly with the bat he is a far better batsman then then his 10-15 cameos and once in a while 40-50
speedheat Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 Of course jadeja I will always prefer him over ashwin
Tibarn Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 Jadeja. Watching Ashwin and Bumrah fielding at the same time is horrible enough, but remove one of the best fielders in the world and the pain will amplify.
chewy Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 ...and this is the problem with Jadeja's batting. Has the technique but sometimes just missing that extra effort to think the game situation. He smoked two wonderful consecutive fours, and then next one recklessly pulls one straight to deep cover, with no effort to keep it on the ground or just take a single considering the match situation. Too often he bats like a tailender who can swing the bat when in reality he is capable and smart batsmen (3 x 300s testament to that, lol)
Cricketics Posted January 22, 2017 Posted January 22, 2017 When playing against Pakistan in champions trophy, I will play - Mishra, Jadeja, Bhuvi, Bumrah, Pandya. This team is only for against Pakistan. When playing other teams in champions trophy - Jadeja, Shami, Bhuvi, Bumrah, Pandya.
