Cricketics Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 What is really the use of Pandya if we can not promote him in this format? No one is talking about that. Changes In - Pant, Mishra, Bhuvi, Out - Yuvi, Pandey, Nehra I am bringing a bowler extra as we do not need the extra batsman in Pandey and can use Pandya up early instead and we also have Rasool down the order if needed to bat a bit. We can play all three spinners along with Bumrah and Bhuvi and Pandya, which gives Kohli a better bowling options incase some bowler goes for too many runs. Regarding the batting order, Here is my top 3. Kohli Pant Raina Regarding no.4,5 and 6, if we lose our second wicket after 13th over. I will promote Pandya ahead of Rahul and Dhoni. Yes, in twenty20, we need to make these decisions of playing our all rounder who is known to hit, ahead instead of having him come in just last few overs. Give him few extra deliveries to settle and start hitting instead of always bringing him in the last overs. Need to think and play it like twenty20. If he gets out, early, I bring in then Dhoni and Rahul. But important to promote Pandya up if we lose our 2nd wicket late. So the team and order looks like Kohli Pant Raina Pandya Rahul - depending on the situation Dhoni - depending on the situation Rasool Bhuvi Mishra Bumrah Chahal

BCCI Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Pandya should be sent up the order to atke on the Moeen Ali,I felt he should have been sent in when Kohli got out yesterday. He can be good against spinners ,should have made use of that atleast.

Pandya is needed at 4 in 12-13th over. Important to use him there. Or if kohli gets out first, we can even have him come abead of Raina, provided it is in the 8th over or something. Give our best hitters the most overs is what is the need for this twenty20 team. It is funny to see some of the teams and batting order of ICF posters who wanted Pandya in the team and now when his format is here, they have him down the order and instead blaming other things when it is clearly the batting order which needs to be sorted more. Pandya coming early could make him a better hitter and can make him ready for duture also. Give him next two games to bat up. He should be promoted to 4 for sure or 3.
philcric Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Rahul Pant * Kohli Raina Yuvi + Dhoni Pandya Bhuvi Bumrah Mishra Chahal It was difficult to come up with a good XI from that atrocious squad. Had to select 2 leg spinners. And not much choice to pick a young middle order batsman from. At the very least Kuldeep Yadav should have been in the squad instead of Rasool. express bowling 1
PSB_Zone Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 (edited) Yuvraj is a liability , he cant rotate strike. He should play but at no 6 and 7 so that he can play as less balls as possible.. Pandey does not get in if he is not batting at top 3. Nehra is a bad fielder ,remove him immediately Rahul/Pant/Kohli/Raina/Dhoni/Uv/Pandya/Mishra/Bhuvi/Bumrah/chahal Open the bowling with pandya and bhuvi Edited January 27, 2017 by PSB_Zone Mosher 1
express bowling Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 (edited) 1) Pandey -- Has the ability to play lofted shots aginst genune quicks and can start hitting from ball one....hence opener. Is a good fielder too. 2) Pant -- No-brainer selection 3) Kohli -- Has had superlative success at No.3 in LOIs and should stick there 4) Rahul 5) Raina 6) Dhoni 7) Pandya ---- Will bring him as a floater when a wicket falls after the 12th over. 8) Bhuvi 9) Chahal 10) Mishra 11) Bumrah -- Rahul has not been comfortable opening in LOIs and had scored a century in at No.4 in an earlier T20I against the WI. I will try him there. -- Pandey is not ideal for T20Is but is a much better fielder than Yuvraj as of today. I will play him and open with him. He has the ability to play lofted shots against quick bowlers and I would like to use him there. -- The selected squad is so inadequate that there is no way to choose a good No.8 LOI batter in this squad. -- Having 2 quality leg-spinners is better than having an ordinary off-spinner who bats at a low SR like Rasool. Cricketics Posted January 27, 2017 Author Posted January 27, 2017 ^Throwing Pandey on top is not needed at this time when we have Kohli going fine who has also opened well in IPL. Kohli wants to open in twenty20 and hence he should. Kohli looks at 2020 as if he can bat full twenty over and can score a hundred and others can bat around him and score the same in total which will takenus to 200 most times. I think it is a unique and a great though by Kohli. Kohli is our best batsman and should get as many overs he wants, to bat. 2 minutes ago, express bowling said: Pandey -- Has the ability to play lofted shots aginst genune quicks and can start hitting from ball one....hence opener. No, Kohli does not want to open and did so as he felt that the selected playing 11 did not have 2 good openers. He has been exceptional at No.3 in both T20Is and ODIs .... and I see no reason to change something that has worked so well. Moreover, Kohli is not a natural opener either and his game is more suited as a middle-order batsman. Laaloo and Mosher 2

Not sure why you say that when he has often come and faced the new ball when we have lost the first wicket early as he is always on no.3. Also, if he really did not want to open, he he could have easily played the former RCB opener Manish Pandey as the opener today instead of sending him down and put himself at three. I think he enjoyed opening and hence came up. He might not love it more than no.3 slot but I don't think he care much about it regardless of where he bats. Untill we have a settled team, don't think Kohli opening and holding one end is a bad choice at all. kosingh 1

Because Kohli thinks otherwise and is correct. Raina is another 2020 stalwart like Kohli who needs to get most overs to bat and hence should always bat ahead of KL Rahul if Rahul isn't opening. Also , Kohli has mentioned already that he will not think twice coming at 3 when Rohit returns.

Ankit_sharma03 Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 Pant Kohli Dhoni Rahul Yuvraj Mandeep Pandya Chahal Bhuvi Bumrah Nehra/mishra M dropping Raina our highest scorer as the guy has no future and m sick n tired of watching his similar dismissals Dropping rahul down to order coz he has done well at 4 and i want kohli to open Kohli shud open acc to me, he is our best batsman and most consistent one so why not give him more balls Spin is our strength but for that we need good spinners to, now either ur forced to hve wo leg spinners or play with pacers . Not selecting kuldeep was a bizzare call I have to play 1 among raina n yuvi as we need a part timer to. Since yuvi will go to ct2017 might as well give him more games so he can get better or get exposed. Mandeep vs Manish- Even though i dnt think mandeep is worthy of international cricket but at 6 he wud have to slog only and Manish wont be suited at 6. Manish has been out of soughtes this whole season. Opening with Manish can also be an intersting option but manish has been out of form and thats my concern. I want to try dhoni at 3 and tell him go have a blast , also him battiing to low in t20 doesnt come of that well Mosher 1
OpeningBatsman Posted January 27, 2017 Posted January 27, 2017 (edited) Pant Pandey Kohli Raina Yuvraj Dhoni Pandya Mishra Chahal Bhuvi Bumrah Mishra has to come in, he is a terrific LOI bowler and Rasool just seem ordinary. Even his domestic stats are not that great. Don't mind having two leggies. Would still back Bumrah but Bhuvi has to come in place of Nehra. Dhoni should only come in after 15 overs. Wastes too many balls. Edited January 27, 2017 by OpeningBatsman express bowling 1
