velu
Quote New Delhi: Ishant Sharma is yet to realise his true potential, feels former pacer Venkatesh Prasad, who wants the lanky speedster to lead the Indian attack in next month's tough tour of South Africa. India have picked up five pace specialists -- Ishant, Umesh Yadav, Bhuveshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah -- for the three-Test series starting in Cape Town on January 5. By far the most experienced pacer out of the five, Ishant, has been bowling well of late but he is not a sure starter in the playing eleven. The 29-year-old made his Test debut way back in 2007 and has played 79 Tests since then, taking 226 wickets at an average of 36.55. "Ishant has been around for more than a decade. It is high time that he leads the attack. I don't know what the issue is. He has got the pace, the height, the aggression but he has not realised his potential. He should be playing the role that Srinath (Javagal) played when he was around, or Zaheer Khan or Kapil Dev when they played," Prasad said. me vs prasad http://www.news18.com/cricketnext/news/ishant-must-deliver-in-sa-steyn-and-morkel-not-a-threat-says-venkatesh-prasad-1615103.html Temujin Khaghan 1 Link to comment

Ankit_sharma03
Ishant has a chance this overseas season to undo all the raita he spilled in past few years. Wkts wud help seamer so no better time.....ab to exp bhi hai 70+ test ka Link to comment
Silva
Ishants record is actually very good against apart from SA and Australia. He averages 50+ against these two teams but exlcuding them he averages 27 against all other teams. I think these two teams are used to playing bowlers with his height and pace. King Tendulkar
Prasad is a weasel . Coward . Big mouth . Jealous and insecure . Former players shoudl be ass licking current team . Guy has psychological problems . How dare he criticise ishant . Needs lime light . Chicken who ran away when playing for india . Never liked him. How dare he utter one word against our boys . Needs to be positive . Hate him adi B 1 Link to comment
MCcricket
This tour n the way he is bowling I hear ,have not witnessed though, he could turn things around, 29 is not old or young, certainly has pace n is fit, needed to discover himself, looks like he has ,he might surprise a few people , I see Ishant, Shami, BK get good sides out in SA, Aus, Eng n NZ n add Pandya to the list we have a very good attack. With the width he gives and how inaccurately he lands the ball. Height and pace wise there has not been many in his level. In SA Morkel in Aus we can say Gillespie thats it. High 140 and 6'6 or + is very difficult combo however you look at it, we should try and not hype and bring SA and Aus firmly back to ground every time. Link to comment
Vilander
btw does venky prasadham want Ishant to focus on line and length ? adi B 1 Link to comment

Ishant is listed at 6 foot 4 which is probably average fast bowler height for them. Im just trying to understand how his inaccuracy only seems to be exploited by these two countries and not the rest. Not sure anybody knows the exact height of pace bowlers. But on average its safe to say aussie and SA bowlers are taller than subcontinent pace bowlers which might be the reason why they have more success vs Ishant. Link to comment
