Useless metric as Pandya averages as much as Jadeja, who only averaged 21 with the bat in his first two years So a first class avg of 50 translated in to a career avg of 32 so far and only 21 in his first two years .... While Pandya is avg 31 in his first season

If 140kph is the barometer then Watson was 2x the player Pandya can ever be & even he wasn't a fix until after IPL 2008 for Aus. Bowling 150kph is talent, we've had literally thousands of 140 kph bowlers play at some level in FC or list A, even T20 around the world. Stradlater 1
Temujin Khaghan Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 It's like this.. there are other players who can replace jadeja in tests played in India. But if we can develop pandya like holder or stokes then he will be irreplaceable for India in tests played in overseas. Don't underestimate pandya. even Jason holder was deemed "ordinary" at the beginning. Now he is a superb player. I believe even pandya can develop like that given time and guidance.
Temujin Khaghan Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 All-rounders whose primary skill is very close to their secondary skill like for example Flintoff, stokes and Jason holder need some time to properly understand their game. Because unlike kallis or hadlee they don't have a security to fall back on to think for themselves that they are good enough to be in the team for their primary skill alone. Pandya too doesn't have a clear cut primary skill though he leans towards batting more. Given time, he is a potential 100 tests - 6000 runs - 250 wickets level player. zen 1
chewy Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 (edited) Many experts and many on ICF wrote off Jadeja as waste of time and he use to get some real hate here, but has become one of the best Test spinners going around and instrumental in India's absolute home domination. If India wants an pace all-rounder, then Pandya should be allowed similar rope, especially games in India. Edited January 26, 2019 by chewy sandeep 1
R!TTER Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 As has been said Holder had a great FC record, Padya has no FC record to speak of. He still can't build an innings in tough conditions & is a liability on flat tracks. Stradlater and Switchblade 2

Pandya at his peak could be a beast

It can't go higher without hard work in domestic cricket.

Rightarmfast Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 History shows that the International avg of any player is atleat 5-10 lower than domestic average. Pandya would be a special case to defy that Switchblade 1

No one is underestimating Pandya.. infact all I can see are people overhyping him.. this bloke has potential but all this hype can definitely go to his head and that should not be the case.. he needs to be managed and encouraged but calling him next best thing since Kapil dev is not going to help.
Stradlater Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 (edited) Yeah probably in those 'tests' where you gotta make a move on a girl while observing her dancing. Edited January 27, 2019 by Stradlater
MCcricket Posted January 27, 2019 Posted January 27, 2019 If people cannot grasp that we have only one candidate after Kapil who can bowl at 140 k and has batting talent, it is a rare commodity, like we had Srinath one fast bowler in all these years. How dumb are people or letting their hatred cloud their judgement zen 1
