Sanga should get some blame, they brought in Randiv when Herath was fine and is miles ahead of him as a bowler. It is not just 2014, 2009 sending Jadeja ahead of Yuvi and Raina was completely ridiculous. Kept bowling Zaheer against Aussies or proteas don't remember in 2010 when Ashwin was still there.

Yes he deserves some blame. Costing a whole tournament is something else. Yuvi costing us WT20 2014 is a more legit statement.

What was he doing scoring 6 runs of ten balls in 2014 when Raina could just come in and attack from ball one.India sure could have used extra 15 runs which Raina would have gotten if he clicked.
Already answered earlier in the thread. I'll repeat though.

It was 4(7) btw. EVERY SINGLE BATSMAN barring Sanga struggled on that pitch when they were new to the crease. Kohli was scoring run a ball till 25-30 balls. Rohit, Rahane, Yuvi, Jaya, their openers everyone found it tough. So you can not say Raina would've scored 15 more runs, also because many balls Dhoni faced were accurate yorkers.

With that said, it was a disappointing knock, no doubt.

Looked clueless when WI attacked in last T20 semis, it is unpardonable that he along with bowlers did not defend 192, I don't care how flat the pitch was. Dhoni ruined Virat's efforts in last two T20 cup. Virat deserved better.
No its not unpardonable, we had a sub par total to start with. And our bowlers were picking wickets only of illegal deliveries. We didn't have luck on our side, they played well. Sometimes you have to give  credit to opposition. To say Dhoni alone ruined Virat's efforts is laughable tbh.

Dhoni's career has litany of incidents where he played a vital role in India sliding to defeat when it had no business of losing.I am aghast with people defending his SR and trying to prove how good he was in T20s. Reality is this guy ceased to be competent T20 player long long time ago.

There are not many matches other than 2007 world cup where you can say India should have done better than their showing in that world cup as far as 50 over cricket is concerned.

But under Dhoni India has under performed in most of the T20 world cups and Dhoni is one of the prime reasons for it.

Let's see.

2012 WT20 : rain screwed us, both in the match we lost and the one that was washed out.

2014 : runners up

2016 : semi finals

According to you if this is underachievement then one might think our T20 team must be on par with Aus of 00's and WI of 70's. That ofcourse is far from the truth.

Kohli was almost a one man army for us in last 2 WT20 right, now how far can a one man army go? How often in the past have you seen such teams winning WCs? How much should such a team achieve for it to not be called underachievers according to you?

Also, if you are going to call this as underachievement then by your own logic WT20 '07 was surely a side punching above its weight with Dhoni as captain?

Why do people have to be only "Pro Dhoni" or "Anti Dhoni"? I consider myself largely Pro Dhoni for how he changed the role of the wicket-keeper in India completely when we were struggling to find a decent keeper who could bat. But I also think he has gone past his "use by date" at least when it comes to T20s. He has to plod around for 10-15 balls before he can start striking and now, even though he still has striking power, we have better options available in players like Pant. So, I don't think Dhoni should be part of our T20 setup. So, does that make me "Anti Dhoni" now?

Agreed, I should have used better words.

Can somebody do better than him in that position? If the answer is yes, Dhoni should be cast aside without emotions. Its Indian cricket, not someone's baap ka jagir

Agreed. Same goes for others in the team also, that's all.

Damn, poll is pretty emphatic.

Barring a few delusional dhoni fans, every one knows that dhoni isn't a good t20 player, he was never a good t20 International player, his record speaks for it self, just one 50 in a decade speaks volumes about his level.

Just like misbah fans find excuse for his tuk tuk similarly dhoni chamchas find excuse for his lack of impact in international t20. Even if he was a good t20 player ( which he is not), he still should have left this format to groom a youngster, the fact that he isn't even good enough for this format and he still clings on to this spot is pathetic

It's not better than T20Is simply because each IPL team has a set of uncapped players, which brings the overall quality down.

Poll 3 is multiple choice. That's why it has 30 votes.

Dhoni being good or bad is relative. More importantly, the question should be would he be a part of 2018 T20 WC squad. If yes, persist, if no replace
