That is just speculation. If anything there's every chance his legacy grows with 2 ICC trophies coming up.

Okay .wishful thinking but even in his prime he didn't dominate ICC tournaments like Kapil or Yuvi did.May be he can do a Pele.Pele was considered not being outstanding in any tournaments like Garrincha was(Here it is Yuvi).,But finally in his last leg he did become the MVP in 1970

I'd say give him a free pass till CT.If he performs good.Or else he should gracefully retire. It is the pass Sachin or Dravid got.Let him also get it.But this has to be the last rope for him.

Thanks for the pass. I am sure Dhoni would be grateful.

Never batted high enough to do that. Only batsmen in top 3 have a real shot at dominating or all-rounders/bowlers etc.

Because he was special, don't try to compare you idol with the GOD of cricket, Sachin will always get special privileges which normal Indian cricketers like dhoni will never get, get over it, this is the problem with dhoni chamchas, they try to bring down the greatest cricketer to have ever played this game while defending their limited over specialist

he is specal for him and nothing special to me

for me team comes first before selfish records

Only 4 Out of 11 Matches he has a SR of above 100(Only 2 Above 120)

Not talking about averages, not about Highest Scores..... F*ing Strike Rates. The one thing that even the most slow T20 batsmen manage to do easily-Score at even just more than run a ball. And we are talking about MSD-The so called best finisher in the world. The Krishna of RPS. Comes in the 15th over or so. Makes a mockery of Run-chases requiring 12+ RPO by Defending. The Other batsmen around him have to literally strike 3 runs every ball to make up for him. Moreover, there is no intent. He is coolly defending the balls in the 17th-18th over. Being Such a senior member,he has probably played the worst String of innings in the history of IPL.

I sometimes doubt how this guy managed to do so well for India as a leader when he doesn't have the guts to recognize that he is screwing his team and that his days are over. I mean he should have at least done something. Maybe walkout 1 down or even Open (If there is no replacement available that is) . Stupid of RPS management to not have a WK backup option.

If RPS do manage to not qualify as top 2(Esp if it comes down to NRR) then it will be this man to blame.

And the big question-Does this guy really deserve to go to England? If he is in the team only for his valuable inputs that he gives to VK(Not denying it)...Better hire him as a consultant or a mentor.

It is an eye sore to see him in this state.

upvoted it :icflove:

Let's not confuse formats here. On current form based on IPL there are others who wouldn't make ODI team as well.

The way Dhoni has been pottering around in this IPL, it doesn't seem like he even has his mind in the right place. Besides, if I can get a 90 off 40 balls from someone like Pant and instead I get a 90 off 110 balls from Dhoni, I would take the former even in an ODI.

ODI cricket is evolving and 300 totals are no longer safe totals. 300 is the new 240 from 20 years ago. Now, teams are chasing 400 batting first. Just look at England. They have completely revamped their ODI squad and they play the entire 50 overs like an elongated T20 match. They pick deep batting line-ups and don't let up the hitting even when couple of wickets fall. They are looking for 350+ scores when they start. We need to start thinking along those lines, especially when we have power hitters in the IPL. Pant, Pandya brothers, even a new guy like Tripathi is showing us that we have plenty of power hitters in India. But no way would they get their chance to prove their mettle if old warhorses like Dhoni keep playing even when completely out of form.

Please note that I actually regard Dhoni very highly in ODI cricket. He would be my first pick into an All Time India ODI XI. But his time to go had been fast approaching and I am afraid now he is no longer anywhere close to the best keeper batsman in India even for ODIs.

Why so? No matter how big he is Team and country comes before everybody.  Isn't this the motto followed by ICF?

Why different in this case?

OMFG.   MTC of all people dissing bhuvi and calling him a non international bowler just to insult MSD. WOW. You need treatment bro.

@beetle

Bhuvi did bowl to his strength in that innings. Check how Rabada bowled to Dhoni in that ODI when he could not score 12 runs in last over at Green Park. You dont bowl full to Dhoni in death over unless you are Malinga who can slide the ball under his bat with that low sling action.

Rabada and Bhuvi are diff bowlers.Bhuvi bowled to his strengths and that was go for wide Yorker and inswing Yorkers sometimes you miss and Dhoni played the wide Yorker well.Bhuvi can't go short as he does not get bounce like rabada nor does he have the pace.

I know, still bowling short of length is far better than bowling full to him.
