But you must admit that BCCI is being greedy

I can agree with your statement about real cricket fans wants cricket but being greedy part? No man, more like being treated unfairly. If PCB was in BCCI's shoes, you would have been singing a different tune all together.

No.  I don't agree.   Every board is trying to get maximum revenue from the ICC.  Why should the BCCI who represent the country and the market that generates 70% + of that revenue, not get the 20% that its asking for?   Look, I don't love the BCCI - most Indian fans don't.  But the current scenario is not about BCCI being greedy - its about the ECB staging a political power grab at a time when BCCI is internally devastated due to the Supreme court mandate - almost 100% of their staff with the experience and knowledge to counter the ECB powergrab have been pushed out of office - not just the corrupt ones - ALL of them.   Most due to term limit restrictions, age restrictions etc.

India subsidizes all the other cricket boards' budgets - either directly through overseas tours, or indirectly, as the largest source of ICC revenue.  Even if they get the amount they are asking for, they would still be subsidizing them.   I know non-Indian cricket fans like to pretend that this is not true, but it just is.

The SC's involvement is extremely bothersome. They are blocking the indian board from doing what's in the game's best interests. How long will this continue?

And less said about the ICC, the better. the 'global growth' bullshit they keep spewing is nothing but a narrative driven to promote their agenda of prioritizing international cricket's primacy above franchise cricket. the goras, in particular, know damn well how worthless their brand of test cricket is. they are the minorities of cricket, they mismanaged the game in their own countries, yet they throw their weight around at the ICC table like they still run the game...yeh apni aukaat pe kab aayenge? why is their share of revenue never called into question? the ICC itself is a worthless organization, their tournaments have no value without the indian eyeballs, and they know this.

no other country manages cricket on the scale at which india does. cricket in india is still developing, entire regions don't have access to the game at any level. losing that money would result in a slowing down of the game's growth within the country. that's what the supreme court is losing sight of, and they are directly impeding india's progress.

what's good for india is what's best for cricket. this power vacuum needs to be sorted out immediately. we all agree the game could be run better, but the country's administrators should present a unified front at the ICC table. that's not happening, but how will they bring back the old administrators?

If the BCCI do not wish to abide by the democratic vote which they unanimously lost they should have objected before the vote took place.

they went into that fight with their hands tied. they had no clue what to do or how to argue india's case. this is a political issue, and the stooges appointed by the supreme court haven't got a clue about politics.

Anyone interested in numbers>

1. BBL Profit <$3 million

2. PSL profit <$2 million

3. Anyother league. All in loss or not making much profit.

4. IPL 2016 pretax profit $350+- million

Directly or Indirectly, I am sure India contributes 80+% of cricketing revenue.

Bcci is being greedy? It's share cut to half to give to contries that do not earn much for icc and you think bcci is greedy?

Extremely disapppinted by the response of these ex cricketers who have grown rich thanks to Indian cricket but now do not care about the losses to bcci.Obviously the don't need the petty pension of a few thousand rs. What do they care about the domestic crickets whose share will be cut.

Specially disappointed by that guy called Sachin Tendulkar...representing sports and cricket in the Rajya Sabha.

What the hell does he do there?

This was the one time he should have raised his voice and stood by the board which is fighting for its right against icc....but here again the guy disappoints.

All he cares about is to watch cricket or do his own thing...like he cared about his 100th 100......damn the rest.

He can use his position as a RS member to lobby for his land grabbing friend...but can't put in a word to help Indian Cricket.

A few words from him in public would have put the vinod rais and Guhas in their place....but instead he chooses this.

Don't these guys have a basic sense about leverage. The only leaverage bcci has right now to fight icc in this issue is the CT withdrawl threat...and they hand over the bloody advantage to icc.

Maybe it is right that these guys are not running bcci. They don't seem to have the brains to.

Arre Cricinfo sub ko chu*** bana rahe he..

if i ask SRT/Dravid: would you like to to see India in Champions trophy?

and if they asnser: Yes, ofcouse.. provided BCCI gets their bigger cut..

I will say .. see they answered Yes, they want to see India in CT..

It is very unlikely that these guys do not know of the present crisis. These guys are not novices at media interaction and media baiting.

They should have avoided answering.

You will get better opportunities to vent the irrational hatred against Sachin festering within yourself. It's not Sachin's fault that Dravid always was a beta in front of him, always the second in line, always an after thought, always a weakling. It's also not Sachin's fault that Dravid is embarrassing himself as the bumbling weakling idiot he is before the whole world in IPL.

This can wait for another time.

:)

May be you should think beyond your sachin puja and think about what is the issue.

Sachin is a RS member based on sports . He has a voice that will be heard .wish he would use it for a right issue sometime.

And who the hell is defending Dravid here.If this is how he feels then he is better sitting in the dug out with youngsters than ever sitting in office taking decision about running cricket.

Pretty sure you've quoted the IPL revenue there and not the profit. Also do you have sources for the other values?

My bad, Its revenue. But expenses to run IPL in India are expenses over Cricketing facilities and business in India which are somewhere linked to state Cricket units. So a lot goes into accounting

But it is time for Sachin to stand up and say something in support of poor cricketer who earns a livelihood from this money.

Sachin wants to looks good in front of colonial masters and accept awards from them.

He should be a leader and leading from front. Disgraceful behavior.

Couldn't have said it better. TBH I would rather prefer to hear what Gambhir has to say than these maharathis. At least Gambhir will always have players' and India's best interests at heart and will give two hoots about being politically correct.

Sachin is a RS MP. he has buddies across political lines. He MUST speak up in support of Indian cricket ASAP, time is running out. He can correct his dismal RS performance if he takes a stand here. A big name like Sachin calling out ICC BS will make all Indian fans stand up and take notice.

If he does then he may not get the VIP treatment at Wimbledon :giggle:
