Where are all WICB haters?@Malcolm Merlyn Your boys in BCCi arranged series with m WICB now. I thought we were suppose give them a thumbs down and tell them to go find someone else and tell them that we are not touring since they did not vote for us. Now what happened? How come your sane guys in BCCI keep going back to Windies and playing them?

Its ECB and CA which are to gain most. CSA,WICB and BongBrs to loose most. As I said, SLC understood the ploy and kept itself out of loop. Now BCCI can do whatever ECB  plotted or it can simply talk back some sense with other Boards. Local West Indian dailies are allready mentioning how BCCI have done favours in past.

Hopefully they will pick guys like Kuldeep Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Nitish Rana, Sanju Samson, Siraj, Thakur, Thampi etc for this series. This is when you field your new talent. If they send the CT team with Yuvi, Rahane etc., its another opportunity missed.

Depends on the result of Champions trophy..greater chances of youngsters being picked if we do badly

No matter what happens it's time to look ahead. You can't win a WC with guys pushing 40 in the team.

Kuldeep and Pant for sure and maybe Siraj and Sandeep. But others aren't ready for intl cricket. Rana has faded away in the latter stages, Samson is maddeningly inconsistent, Thakur way too loose and Thampi needs a lot more domestic cricket as he was way too inconsistent and leaked runs.

Also, you can't replace the whole team but gradually get 2-3 guys into the team else you become DD at intl level. The youngsters need to play with players who have been part of regular setup for a while to gradually transition into the team. You can't just replace half the team in one shot.

Schedule of the tour:

1st ODI, Queen’s Park Oval, June 23

2nd ODI, Queen’s Park Oval, June 25

3rd ODI, Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, June 30

4th ODI, Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, July 2

5th ODI, Sabina Park, July 6

Only T20I, Sabina Park, July 9

QPO is a fun place to watch cricket.  Windies fans drink like crazy at the cricket, only exceeded by the Poms I think.

Umesh/Shami/Jaddu/Ashwin/Dhoni/Kohli should all be rested for this tour. An excellent opportunity to test our bench strength on this. The blokes I mentioned above should be preparing for the more important SA series instead.

This series has pretty much no significance whatsoever. It serves no purpose other than some obligatory promise by BCCI to WICB. The only real advantage is if we try out some newbies and see how they perform. I'm sure they wont do much worse than Rahane or Rayudu. This is the same mentality which saw many promising players kept out of the team and still going into CT with likes of Yuvraj, Rahane etc. If we continue this same strategy, we will go into WC with some of these new players not having enough experience and having to pick Yuvraj, Rahane and Raina again.

It's not about importance of the series. It's also about giving the players best chance to succeed and they have a better chance to do so when they are surrounded by a few regular members of the team. For example Kohli learned and improved by playing alongside likes of Tendulkar, Dhoni, Sehwag etc. I would want us to pick 2-3 players at most at a given time and invest in them so they can take the next step.

Blooding 5-6 players or throwing bunch of newbies is unlikely to help them improve and conversely it might hamper their progress if they fail. i agree Yuvraj, Rahane etc. should not be there and I would replace them with Pant and whomever is the next chosen. But that's about it. More than 2-3 players and you are not helping the players develop. These kids need time to play alongside the regular team members who have done it before and show them the ropes. You can't do so when you change half the team.

Need to choose some of the young talent

Pant

Shankar

Samson

Siraj

Thampi

Kuldeep

Krunal

Thampi is nowhere ready for intl level. He looked out of his depth when the going was tough.

Samson is highly inconsistent.

Shankar hasn't done anything other than one IPL innings. That's not the way to get into Team India.

Pant, Kuldeep and possibly Pandya should be tried.

They have but thats another point. Fact is windies didn't vote for us, which is fine with me, but Malcolm Merlyn and company did not want the tour to go ahead with windies etc.

In fact I hope he is not planning to watch and support ICC CT also since he is mad at ICC.
