India will tour the West Indies for five ODIs and one T20 international in June and July, with the trip beginning almost immediately after the Champions Trophy final in England.

The Champions Trophy final is scheduled for June 18 and the first ODI between India and West Indies is on June 23 in Trinidad. The second ODI is at Queen's Park Oval as well, before the teams move to Antigua for the next two matches.

The last ODI and the T20I will be played at Sabina Park on July 6 and 9.

Unlike India, West Indies are not part of the Champions Trophy and will be hosting Afghanistan while the top eight ranked ODI nations compete in the ICC tournament in England.

This tour.......is the one when we have to start blooding in a lot of youngster for LOI squads.  Seniors wud rest after CT , hope we dont send tried and tested failures. 2019 WC has to be kept in mind from this tour .

Also a chance to groom a vice captain, since in most likely hood Kohli might not go.

Dhoni vs Ashwin vs Rohit

Same like in 2013 where we went to WI straight after Champions trophy to play the tri series. Do not expect any changes in the squad....the CT team will travel to Caribbean straight from UK.

Damn less than a week between final and the 1st ODI. That can be a little tight. Hope they share the work load appropriately.

Looks like team will be pretty much same as Champions trophy.

India has been sending a 'A' type squad to West Indies for LOI cricket for the past few tours - even as early as 2011 - the team was captained by Raina, and had Parthiv Patel, and as yet unestablished Shikhar Dhawan as openers, and domestic stalwarts like Vinay Kumar getting chances.   Fairly certain Dhoni will be "rested" from this tour.  At least he should be.   Perfect time for the likes of Kuldeep, Samson, Pant etc to get in the mix.   And some young uns on the pace bowling front as well.

Even I want senior players to be rested and send an younger team but it wont happen. If it was a brand new tour (i.e team travelling from India), they would have send an younger team. But this is just an extension tour from Champions trophy like in 2013 where team will fly out directly from heathrow to Carribean. Calling players back from UK to India and then sending new players from India to Carribean is expensive and tideous - flights, visa etc. etc. Knowing BCCI, pretty sure they will send the same squad...however key players like Kohli and Ashwin maybe benched to give rest.

Final? With the team we got, we don't need to worry about that :giggle:

I have a feeling Kohli will be thrashing all opponents to the ground with the anger that would have accumulated due to pathetic RCB season. Plus he will get his best players in the side for support. We play well in ICC events & I m sure with the bowling attack we have currently, we are sure shot better version of what we used to 4 years back.

We should not announce the squad until the chanpions trophy is over. Those who are to be picked and are already in India at that time can be personally told to be ready but I would like to see them not announce the squad untill we are in England and in the tournament.

Also, not all youngsters should go, many should and will but hopefully few seniors go there like Rohit etc.

Also make someone like Manish Pandey the captain on the tour and let him play every game there on Windies tour since he won't be getting any proper chance in CT with Yuvi around in the squad.

Preferably we shouldn't tour the snakes who voted against us at ICC meetings. But if we have to go there, I hope selectors send a young squad with likes of Pant, Sandeep and company. No more Rahanes and Yuvrajs

Depends on the result of Champions trophy..greater chances of youngsters being picked if we do badly

I don't think Kohli would be rested, he needs to groom the squad with young players.

Noi, not Shami. He's just coming back to ODI cricket after 2015. He must play more ODI cricket to get in the groove. He is one of our finest ODI bowlers.

Also, if he doesn't get too many chances in CT, he can still get that record of fastest to 100 wickets playing in WI.

Why are we going to WI after what happened in ICC? We don't need WICB, why are we being such wimps here? First recover $42 mn from them for the damages caused by their incomplete tour here in 2014.
