They have to get 240 in 40 and then go all out in last 10. Push it as much they can. Whether we are playing Pak, Aus or Eng, we must set the target that is apt for that ground. They should try to set a target that they themselves would not like to chase. At this point India team is where they should compare only with themselves and not others. This team can chase 350 easily. In that case, scoring 300, a sub par score is unacceptable. Anything less than 350, will be a boring match. Nobody wants to watch tuk-tuk from Rohit/Dhawan/Kohli/Dhoni/Jadhav/Pandya. Give a **** about boring match ffs . Go watch ipl !!! just bring the trophy home boys SecondSlip and Ultimate_Game 2
Lord Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 Atleast one of Dhawan or Rohit should attack.A cameo like Sehwag in 2011 would tear them apart lol

Just such form they get pinging it . I expect same again v pak what I don't want is wicket thrown away in first 10 . Ultimate_Game 1

The biggest concern for us would b losing early wkts as that would expose our middle order. If we have a solid partnership likes of Imad Wasim and Hafeez are unlikely to trouble use the same way they did Eng & SA. I repeat, if we get a solid start we will put up a good total coz the part timers which Pak have in the middle innings (Imad & Hafeez) won't be half as effective against India. Our team won't change batting tactics in a crucial match like the final. Batters will bat the way they have for the rest of the tournament. King Tendulkar 1
Cricketics Posted June 16, 2017 Posted June 16, 2017 I will make it very simple review of this. Batting at 4.5 is only fine if players who are opening take the responsibility to convert their slow start into a big 100 plus run p'ship by 21st over with out the loss of a wicket. The moment we are 65 in 16 overs and lose first wicket, this is where they need to be reminded that if they want to approach slowly at the start, then they have to at least put 100 runs for the first wicket or it puts pressure on the batsman coming first and 2nd down. To reach 350, we have to attack Hassan, no other choice. We did attack him in the first game as he went with 70 runs of his 10 overs, his most expensive spell so far in this tournament. Also either of the two leftie - Junaid or Amir, will open the bowling. It is important to not give them any wicket in first 8 overs. This is where they will think of bowling changes or will end up looking to try different things. He tend to bowl a lot of full balls, so inclined to bowl over-pitched deliveries. But he is fast too on those full deliveries so best is to play him straight bat and negate the LBW decision. mishra and New guy 2

Ankit_sharma03 Posted June 16, 2017 Author Posted June 16, 2017 Why is this game discussion bought into this We win or loose cricket wud be played after this, this 4.8 has been our run rate post 2015 so its been an overall problem Pak has had 3 good days and reached finals, doesnt mean eng , sa, aus have become poor sides. Those are good sides and we need to take our game on next level rather thinkig about one game. Yes u need to be flexible but here its about changing overall approach I think we shud stick to posting what total against pakistan in the thread of Ind-pak game, this runrate issue goes beyond one game New guy 1

If Ashwin is picked again, he doesn't bowl or gives me confidence to bowl well when we have low totals. Ashwin only bowls well in ODI's when India puts on good totals. Also 270 is a below par total for our batting line up which is winning games easily by 8 or 9 wickets. Realistic is 315 total from this line up and not 270. We might score and win even by 270 but that doesn't mean 315 is still an over optimistic total. We must score 320 + with the way we have batted so far in the tournament. New guy 1

Plus we are playing Pakistan who aren't good at chasing big totals so it makes no sense at all to suddenly change tactics. It's not as if we are playing England or Aus in the final that we need to put up 330+.

And Indian batting has the firepower not just to keep up with the times, but be ahead of the times. No excuse for being behind times. no, game was changed but due two new ball, it has been turned back and in these conditions with two new balls, first 10 overs really crucial. I dont mind them being slow in first 10 but my problem has been not accelerating enough between 11-40 overs when ball is not new but still hard enough to play shots and only 4 fielders outside the circle.
BeautifulGame Posted June 17, 2017 Posted June 17, 2017 Actually.... this Pakistan team is picking up most wickets between the 18 th and 40 th over.... after the 2 balls get a tad older That worked in Cardiff because of the abrasive surface and reverse swing. At Oval , doubt it will work.
Ankit_sharma03 Posted June 17, 2017 Author Posted June 17, 2017 Ill like to add when u knw u have 2 batsman who are not the same - yuvi n dhoni n at times they struggle to get going it beocomes a lil more improtant Not saying they have to to 8RPo, but 2-3 more and they can go around 5.5 which will be better and thats improvement which no one shud be shy from
