Dravid justification on our low runrate in 1st 10 overs

I dont agree to it as when we have so much of depth whats the reason for this safe approach, half of the time the lower order is not getting to bat. We have jaddu, ashwin, bhuvi ....they can hold the bat to.

Still find it hard that some cricketers are yet to come in terms that par scores have changed so u have to leave no opportunity of scoring runs.

N runrate lowest among all nations still is not justified......its not we have azhar ali n shehzad as openers....

There was a lot more inetent from 95 onwards in teams then i have seen with our current team.

PP is still powerplay there are just 2 fielders outside , yes their are 2 new balls but conditions have become flatter n bats have become heavier to

We just need to add a few more shots ....very few

I guess it depends on the team you are playing. I would recommend such an approach for the final against Pakistan coz their biggest threat is taking wkts up front. Plus you don't need a huge total against Pakistan and 300-320 should be enough which the current approach can get you.

But moving forward, and against teams like Australia and England you need to maximize PP overs. That's why somebody like Pant needs to be tried at the top so that Dhawan can take his time, which he doesn't need a lot of TBH, to get set and play a big knock while Pant kick starts the inning with a quickfire 30-40 the way Sehwag used to do so scores like 330-360 are reachable.

Yesterday India showed a good approach and scored at a fast rate, 6-7 runs per over. We have to be flexible.

You cant afford 4 rpo in first 10 while chasing. Hence we saw what we saw yesterday.

Sunday will be dry as hell. 29 degrees of heat on the back of 25 degrees on saturday. Now to compare it with rest of tourney, it was just around 19+- degrees till semis. If we are put into bat first, we must maintain a 6+ rpo

I don't agree with this approach or never will.. What are they gonna do if its a total patta against good bowling attack ? They should go bang bang in first 10 if its a patta and even we are 1 or 2 down... Middle order can handle considering kohli or dhoni can play from one end till last over.

This approach will cost us against big teams..

+1. This is not a test match where a team can bat unlimited number of overs. It just doesn't make sense to waste the overs that are most suitable for quick scoring.

Actually.... this Pakistan team is picking up most wickets between the 18 th and 40 th over.... after the 2 balls get a tad older

That's true.. Hassan Ali is doing most of the damage.. but that's all the more reason you want to take safe approach in pakistan game..

However, i believe this team is flexible.. we have batted first 3 out of 4 times.. but if we do get target of say 350, i doubt we'll play with 4.8 RPO in chasing..

time to smell the coffee..Srilanka team with newcomes scored 322 with ease and we are still playing 1980s cricket in first 10 overs..you can afford to take some risks to have atleast 60-70 in first 10 overs of power play ..likes of Jadhav, ashwin, jadeja and bhuvi  have been twiddling their thumbs ..so this kind of underutilization of resources will cost us , especially on batting pitches when we are batting first

Listen if playing England or Aussie this approach is probably wrong

but we playing Pakistan so adjust tactics . 275 is enough . Not saying we win for that but point is cruise along and post 300 trophy is ours

do not give theee jokers early wickets . Nice start wickets in hand . Cruise to 280 to 300 then watch these plonkers self explode chasing . Of course in all probability safe start and accelerate wickets in hand we probably get 500

Yes but the key still is not to lose early wkts to Amir and company coz if India doesn't and get a decent start I don't expect India to collapse the way Eng or SA did. The biggest concern for us would b losing early wkts as that would expose our middle order. If we have a solid partnership likes of Imad Wasim and Hafeez are unlikely to trouble use the same way they did Eng & SA.

I repeat, if we get a solid start we will put up a good total coz the part timers which Pak have in the middle innings (Imad & Hafeez) won't be half as effective against India.

I am very happy with 4.8 an over for first 15 as long as no wickets lost

from there would cruise to 300 and most likely get 350 . Which is great as 275 would be enough to beat these jokers

Yup 70/0 after 15 overs means we should be able to score 300 and i would take it against Pak in a final :agree:

If wickets are this flat then they should target 350 no matter what. They have to get 240 in 40 and then go all out in last 10. Push it as much they can. Whether we are playing Pak, Aus or Eng, we must set the target that is apt for that ground. They should try to set a target that they themselves would not like to chase. At this point India team is where they should compare only with themselves and not others.

This team can chase 350 easily. In that case, scoring 300, a sub par score is unacceptable. Anything less than 350, will be a boring match. Nobody wants to watch tuk-tuk from Rohit/Dhawan/Kohli/Dhoni/Jadhav/Pandya.
