So what are positives we can take from this match?

 

1) Pandya and Bhuvi bowled well.

 

2) Maybe this embarrassing performance will finally let us drop consistent non-performers like Ashwin, Yuvraj, Jadeja, etc

 

3) Maybe seeing the padosis actually play fast bowlers will teach our think tank not to leave our strike bowlers sitting on the bench. 

 

4) Maybe pressure will be on the selectors (and Kohli?) for continually retreading past their prime players and curtail any biased selections.

Well, Dhawan +Rohit both got selected despite being out-of-form. So selection itself was not a problem. This was our best ever squad in overseas ODIs.

 

Now, the  biggest question is No 4 position for WC. Do we need a new number 4? Pandey or any other young non-capped player have just 2 years, and thus should be in the team for the West Indies squad. We need to urgently groom a No.4 batsman.

I think it's time for both Manish Pandey and KL Rahul to get into the team, as well as Kuldeep and Chahal. Every sane team is moving toward leg spinners, but we won't select ours. That's at least 4 other players added to this squad.

Yes, the role of Yuvi and Dhoni needs to be reviewed. Dropping catches as many as we did calls for the fielding coach to be asked because it's been a longtime problem.

Certainly, Pandey and Rahul needs a consistent run in the team. No.4 spot battle is between them for WC as I see it now.

The only positive is the performance of Pandya and BK.

 

I dont think the think tank is going to acknowledge the apparent weaknesses. They'll just brush it off saying that we reached the finals and the batters can have an off day. Dhoni, Yuvraj and Ashwin definitely need to go.
