Kohli captaincy thread

He may be a great player. But the manner of sacking Kumble has left a very bitter taste in my mouth and would not allow any new coach to add any meaningful value.

Kohli's my way or high way approach is NOT going to leave any meaningful value to coach and no scope for creative disagreement.

being a great/good batsman and being a tyrant aren't mutually exclusive .

Well atleast the OP reworded the thread title.

I am a very big fan of Kohli coz he was a breath of fresh air in the Indian cricket scene, with his immense never seen before talent n aggression n not backing down n not satisfied with averages as most players in the past but committed to win against all odds.I have high hopes of him as a captain because his will n commitment to win n put India in the top bracket in test n ODi t20, also his attitude of taking the bull by the horns gave us hope he will take this team to greater heights n be proactive n build a great team .

Kohli to some appeared over aggressive, proud, but he never ever had issues with his team mates or coaches in the past n got along with greats n present team well.

Now things I'm getting worried about, how the Kohli saga will effect him, also his going overboard with giving respect n standing up for Dhoni ,Yuvi, Rahane it's not right, a player has to be in the team based on merit not your equation or loyalty.

Kohli has been reluctant to try out K Yadav even though he has immense talent also playing Yuvi at the cost of Pandey is not right, a Capt has to set recognize the writing on the wall, Dhoni n Yuvi are finished n should be sidelined n Dravid n Agarkar have given a good roadmap how about to go about trying youngsters n giving a fair chance to all.

We have immense talent but unfortunately the selectors r spineless n Virat is too caught up with loyalty issues, which is especially holding our odi side back.

Guys like Sarfaraz , Hooda, K Yadav, N Rana, Samson ,Shankar,Sarfaraz should be in the squad n we should plan ahead for 2019, n Dhoni ,Yuvi will not n don't deserve on merit to be there.

Kohlis insistence to play both Jadeja, Ashwin, n not learning from his mistakes is frustrating, clearly we need a good wrist spinner in the side n K Yadav, Chahal r the options n r good.

Selectors are as much to be blamed n even their squad for WI series is pathetic n have missed chances after chances to groom talent on suce tours , also being good in one format doesn't mean a player will be good in others, Rahane, Ashwin, Jadeja, come in that bracket.

Looking in the future let's hope things go smoothly, Indian team has performed greatly past two years n ICC final a great reminder that work needs to be done, Dhoni had completely ruined the team n Kohli has done a great job with Kumble to take our test side to the top n with ODi success as well.

Challenge now for Kohli is being logical n be a visionary like Saurav n look at the ODi side n decide what needs to be done n it is obvious , we need changes n big time, next gen has to come in.

It would be a good idea to give t20 captaincy to someone like Rohit so someone is groomed for the job,

Some people have to blame Dhoni. Mann ko shanti nahi milegi warna.

I get a feeling they are paid by some agency to go on this mindless tirade against dhoni. No one is that vella and useless to keep posting same **** over and over again. For ex gollum, i thought he was from same brigade but his recent posts suggest something else.

Yup he needs to be booted out. Its obvious Kohli looks up to him whenever he need any suggestions, I wonder what he might be feeding him to prolong his pathetic career.

As disgusted as I am with all this whole Kumble-Kohli saga.....

serious question What is the role of Dhoni here?

Is he keeping total distance amidst the mess? In that case as a senior and almost a god father like figure, shouldn't he have stepped in to try and help out and broker peace?

Well wasn't ICF going all crazy as to how smart he was asking Jadhav to bowl and what a genius he was,why is Kohli getting totally crushed for captaincy failures?

What is the point of being a "senior" and "experienced" when your game is on it's way down and your input behind or on the the field is useless too?

No matter what it is Kohli's fault for letting his friends walk all over him.

Also Kohli is a protege of Dhoni and at the same time Anil Kumble was his mentor in his younger days,so he does have/had great relation with both

Only thing I would say in Dhoni defence is since they fell out aka stopped talking ,which was stage England tour , we only played the tests against Australia and and then went to IPL.So Dhoni didn't play much during this time for India.

But yes its inconceivable that Dhoni didn't know of these issues .And he should have taken a lead as senior player to sort out this issue at the end of Aussie tour.

The same applies for other senior players like Yuvi Ashwin or Rohit as well.

As I mentioned in other thread every one of them (Kohli Kumble Dhoni Sachin Ganguly VVS Senior players) were to maintain the status quo and drag it to the Champions trophy.

Not a single person comes out this with any credit.
