Yup having him n krunal for no 6th slot can give us so many options to try

Within few yrs this guy wud be good enough to bat at 5 to.....

HE ll also be a gr8 option for test, he might not be the wkt taking bowler but can hold one end up and not give runs

I'm sure you have a t shirt of his picture printed already and putting it on before bed every night ...:laugh1:

i've seen him in ranjis and some domestic list a matches. doesn't make the cut as a batsman alone imo. for me, ipl is not always a reliable indicator of success.

Takes time man, best is to give chances to people who are scoring as they can take that confidence into International cricket. Some do and some don't. Those who can't will go back to Ranji but those who can will stay.

it's not like this is his debut season or anything - I just think that (in terms of pure batting alone) there are much better long-format players in Ranjis than Shankar.

but i have not seen his bowling so cant be sure of his all round value.

kedar is one of our best Bats as of today, very close to Kohli. Very talented batsman with good hitting capabilities and the best part is he likes

bouncers , he hits short balls big time.

Jadhav should be permanent member of the side, he is very very good, fielding needs a bit of work though, Shankar should come in for Ashwin, Yuvi, middle order. Also people have to realize he is a late bloomer as most all rounders are, His batting shows class n he hardly batted in IPL, but based on his game in domestics n most important against good bowlers, his bowling is pretty decent bowls around 128 n 135 k in domestic n based on speed guns n elevation to higher level n his action n height he can easily bowl fast medium also has Skill n gets bounce, he has had a break through season n should be in A tours n India squad.

Honest question.....world cup final against Starc Cummins Hazelwood in one of the conditions Aus,Eng,SA India 80/4....Jadhav walks in....what is your confidence meter?

TBF every Indian youngster not established will struggle but Jadhav is 30+ and doesn't add anything and no upside or scope for improvement... if people are not sold on Shankar yet fair enough but a Jadhav is not the long term solution.

No one, under such pressure we have seen kohli crumble who is the best

Yup jadhav cnt be a long term solution.....his fielding n running btw wkts is costly.

His bowling wud soon be figured by opposition and at max he ll give u 5 overs

We need someone young n who if needed can bowl even 10 overs.......krunal n shankar are the guys

His speed is okay-ish but he lacks any genuine bowling skills.

We can't just judge his like arm chair critics, yes he will probably not run thru sides but is bowling same pace as BK or quicker when he came in so , also has skills n can develop.

Shankar bowls a good outswinger when swing is on offer and has an effective bouncer.... has strong shoulders and can hit the deck when needed.  Some basics are there.  Just needs to up his pace.

Shankar looks strong and has a decent action. With some guidance he should be easily able to hit 130+ consistently.

His batting looks very solid as well.

We should get him into the team as early as possible. Even if he don't play he can improve a lot by being part of the team.

Has SHankar played in any of the A tours/matches? Just curious.

IIRC he was selected for the A tour to Australia, but got injured and Hardik Pandya went in his place.   This was during the time when the genius BCCI selectors excluded Pandya from the A tour to Australia, and also the ODI and T20 tour to Zimbabwe - an official team on paper, but it was primarily an 'A' squad.   The likes of Rishi Dhawan were preferred over Pandya, and that's when the thread "Hardik Pandya is a better white ball bowler than Ben Stokes" was created.  To point out the value of a seam bowling allrounder prospect who was being criminally under-rated not only by the selectors, but also on ICF.

Just a hype...He is good but is he that good?
I seriously doubt he will ever play for India.

Worse players have played for the nation
