Keep an Eye out for Shankar-Ready Made Class

A very solid batsman. Averages 50 in first class. Can hit pacers. And most important a proper bat. No hack. Dibly dobly bowling is added bonus. Though it doesn't matter since he can take a position in middle order as a genuine batsman.

Yuvi and Dhoni need to be shown doors. Thank you for your services.

Openers: Pant, Rahul, Dhawan, Rohit

Middle order: Kohli,Rahul or Pandey,V Shankar, H Pandya.

Pant,K.Yadav have atleast made it into the squad.

Chahal's turn will come soon too

Next guy we need to keep an eye out for is V.Shankar. This guy is class.Effortless cricketer and pleasing on the eye.

Needs to be in the LOI set up right now

We have seen his batting-Verdict class...can bowl a bit too...bit of a Trundler in the Ganguly mode...slightly better than Ganguly but more than a good 6th bowler to have instead of the Kedar Jadhav's of the world.

Yup having him n krunal for no 6th slot can give us so many options to try

Within few yrs this guy wud be good enough to bat at 5 to.....

HE ll also be a gr8 option for test, he might not be the wkt taking bowler but can hold one end up and not give runs

Yes batting is what impresses...even if he is not utilized with the ball, can play as a batsman....Hope he doesn't become another Rishi Dhawan or Binny due to mismanagement but the guy definitely has leagues batting potential than players like that.In fact I think he was the find of the season this IPL just like Pant was last year.

V Shankar is a class bat, technique n can be aggressive as well, his bowling is good as well, can seam n swing the ball n I think he has the ability to bowl 135 k on average which is good, tall guy n I feel he should be tried out on A tours n tours like WI

I was interested till you said he is an alternative to Jadhav

Jadhav is the only guy in team after Kohli and Pandya that plays modern type of cricket, has strike rate above 110, has average above 50 and you want him to be out. Sorry but no

Better be amazing bat as his bowling is filth

not an all rounder

Yes his bowling is just an add on...his batting well it's like what if Vvs Laxman had adapted to the modern LOI game...classy and wristy with running between the wickets and power hitting.

If 2016 Pant was the standout 2017 it is Shankar.Looked right in the zone from ball 1 and looks like he belongs l.

Honest question.....world cup final against Starc Cummins Hazelwood in one of the conditions Aus,Eng,SA India 80/4....Jadhav walks in....what is your confidence meter?

TBF every Indian youngster not established will struggle but Jadhav is 30+ and doesn't add anything and no upside or scope for improvement... if people are not sold on Shankar yet fair enough but a Jadhav is not the long term solution.

Even i was pissed off in the initial few games he played . Taking so much risk . You got the feeling he will play couple of fancy shots and get       out .

But the way he batted in Eng series , makes me think ,  Hey wait  ...   Give this guy few more chances at 4 or 5 and then judge .

But he has to improve his fielding a lot .  People do not give him enough credit for series win .

I would not say an automatic choice , let him be in contention . In any case in next 12 months  during SA , AUD tour he will be tested and will

    know .

Secondly we seem to think , ENG means seam , swing ..

In world events most of the pitches will be patta even in ENG or AUS . Take it from me .

We have enough evidence of that in last 2 -3 years .
