Samson, unmukt, Vijay zol. All these were supposed to make it big. All are failures. Leave the kids alone. Succession from u19 to senior team is tough.

how are they failures? they are all young. Not every player will debut at 19-20. Samson has just turned 23 and is scorning runs in domestic cricket. He has not gotten much chances at international level so how he is a failure. we can only call him a failure once he gets his chances. Same with Vijay Zol. Zol was never great in FC or U19 level anyway.

samson and unmukt atleast looked class above the rest during their times as u19 players but zol lol, people were going gaga over him in 2012-14.i saw him in the u19 wc 2014, he looked the worst batsman of that lot

Samson played close to 50 matches. The hype he had at that time you would expect him to good  in first class atleast. He wasn't considered for duleep trophy this year. So a failure he couldn't live to his hype yet. He may have time but these are not good signs.

Has he retired? You are terming him failure. Hype doesn't mean much. Dhawan was our best u19 performer ever. There was a lot of hype about him. It took him a decade to establish himself in the team. His FC record was never great.

the difference is that the likes of Unmukt and Zol never established themselves in FC, and Samson played in his initial yrs in a weak team (and was perhaps picked too young). He has done well this season. In contrast, the likes of Shaw, Gill, Anmolpreet and Pant-gasm have at least done well in domestics, although that's not a guarantee for int'l success.

Gill looks good

but imo not close to shaw . Shaw technically looks ready to play for india all ready . Shaw just looks like god produced him to just bat , reminds me of someone else :giggle:

Psst.. The last good Mumbai batsman debuted some 30 years ago. So Mumbai is always the talent hype.

I have a good feeling about Gill. Should be fast tracked. Shaw can be an accumulator but Gill will be your match winner. I'm going by the generic template of Mumbai vs Delhi cricketers.

Shaw is far from an accumulator. May turn out to be a negative for him tbh.
