i am not sure how they will improve slip catching. They think slip fielding is like any other fielding position.  Slip fielding is a specialized position and needs proper technique, concentration and quick reflexes.  Kohli is too fidgety and can never be a good slip catcher. Vijay, Pujara and Rahane should stand work on their slip catching.

Rahane and Vijay for sure. Pujara did not do well in Aus series if i remember with his catching, but surely he is better than Dhawan/Kohli.

Also our fast bowling is good and better as a unit than previous tours...however on SC,spinners do the bulk of work and they are the ones winning us series...only improvement has been that in those games fast bowlers have provided better support than they have done in the past....another problem is our fast bowlers seem

to run out of steam if they have to carry the bulk of the responsibiliies especially in the 2nd innings.

This has been a glaring issue for a while yet you can bet the "coaching staff" which sadly comprises of a Cheer-leader and her drinking buddies will not have even acknowledged the problem never mind addressing it.

Looks like slip positions are decided by some astrologer.

That is not farfetched idea at all :p:, it was ridiculous to see three people drop catches in the same position. They need to put Vijay in second slip.He is better than these guys.Dhawan should not be in playing eleven.

what is it you want coaching staff to do? you want them to turn them into something which they are not.Was Kumble not the coach in Wi where they also ran out of steam.

These things don't happen overnight. It takes years and it will take whole BCCI to be part of the planning.

thats a serious allegation whats your evidence ?. unless you are from pakistan you need to provide evidence to back up your accusation, pak excused cause the laws are different in case of pakistan( they need solid proof which usually comes from their arse)

Murali, Bhajji, Chuckmal all were chuckers but escaped due to lax enforcement of rules.

Bhajji was no chucked in 2009 and 2010. He had stopped bowling doosra at that time.

LOLwut? I remember him chucking the doosra in the 2015 Lanka tour when he was getting outbowled by Ashwin. Check the match thread here, surely posters would have pointed out his blatant chucking. He never stopped bowling the doosra, he only lessened the frequency, under pressure he would always resort to his javelin throws.

After looking at the indian bowlers averages outside the subcontinent exluding west indies i dont think they have a chance of winning unless they do something out of the box and pick 4 paces bowlers or maybe try bumrah. Anoyher way they might win is if SA prepare green tops for shami and bk but i doubt they will.

Add to that the fact that the one pitch in south africa thats good for spin bowling isnt going to be used. Plus the abysmal fielding. The odds seem to be stacking up against India.

If Saffers have any brains they will analyze the last match in Kotla before pitch preparation. I know Protea fans on social media are baying for green tops but if they lay out those mambas, they are opening a window of opportunity for us. If they prepare pitches like they did in 2013 we are losing minimum 0-2, if they prepare Wimbledon lawns it should go 2-1 either way. Another thing they might do is greentop in Cape Town to catch us unprepared and smash us before going for 2013 style pitches in tests 2 and 3. Du Plessis is a very shrewd man and he has a big say in pitch preparation, so I predict he is going to ask the curators for exactly that.

Big disadvantage for us this time is that we are playing ODIs and T20s afterwards and also we are departing very late. In 2006 and 2013 we played the ODIs first and got massacred, so by the time the 1st test came we were better prepared. In 2010-11 we played tests first and that ATG batting unit folded for 136 in Centurion 1st innings.

Wanderers pitch in 2013 was as green as you would find. Centurian 2010 was not green.  It was damp due to rain just before and as the sun came out it dried out and became a batting paradise.

While Protea fans have a right to whine about the last tour to India -the Nagpur pitch was terrible and deserved to be sanctioned - the South Africans are not innocent when it comes to pitch-fixing and maxing out home advantage.  They have been doing it since the 90s.

Its absolutely foolish for the BCCI to have agreed to a schedule that has ONE warm-up game - when you know that SA has always given useless tracks for warm-ups anyway.   In the modern era, its always best to play ODIs first on a tour, and then play tests.  That is the only way to give your test team the best chance at getting used to conditions - many of our ODI stars are in the test team anyway.

That is why I am so eagerly waiting for the Eng series. We have endured lot of humiliation there in the previous 2 tours, that 2011 one hurts me to this date. Unless BCCI *s up the scheduling by arranging a tour after IPL next year we have enough time to prepare besides playing the limited overs matches first and playing the tests only in Aug-Sep by which time our spinners will join the party. I fully expect a thrashing in SA because of some flaws which should hopefully be corrected before the England tour. 5 tests in England is awesome and if we win a 5 test series there it will be truly historic.

It is BCCI's fault and not SA's. They could easily have send test squad a weeks early and have more warmup as most front-line test players aren't playing ODIs.
