Recently against SL he scored an 18 ball duck and yet he keeps being selected. Ridiculous that he gets chance after chance whereas Pant was treated like **** and discarded after one failure in WI. one of the best in list A in ind definitely. but shouldn't be allowed near the actual team. Shaw Rahul Kohli Gill Pant Samson/Sarfaraz Pandya Nagarkoti Kuldeep/Chahal Saini/Mavi Bumrah/Bhuvi top 6 looks shaky to me. Pant is clearly hit-or-miss - we need a more consistent keeper-batsman - and the same is true of samson. rahul will be injured half the time, and shaw lacks the power game that is becoming more important in ODIs. only kohli and gill seem appropriate at this stage. post-2019 WC, neither dhawan nor Rohit will be so old as to be dropped. and, although they both suck in tests, they are very good players in ODIs, esp. on flat pitches. of the current U19 batsmen, I can see only Gill making the cut in ODIs (at 4 or 5). He looks the most 'ready'. We need to take Nagarkoti or other young guns to a place like New Zealand for their first tour. Game starts around 2:30 am IST, even if they fail on such tours, half of the wannabe Indian cricket following public won’t even know what happend and how these players performed. :) abc, Samcric and Suhaan 2 1 Link to comment

vvvslaxman
I truly believe Gill has a spot in this ODI side. Pandey, Jadhav don't look like our long term options. Rahane too. On roads where you can pile up 320 runs, Rahane is often found wanting. Link to comment

You know he recently took over ODI captaincy right? He hasn’t been captain since last 4-5 years. If you change the team over night from the team lead by the previous captain, thats called Hitler attitude. Kohli doesn’t have my way or highway attitude. He is playing the best he thinks there are Regarding youg players its not just about playing younsters. Playing or giving chance to the right players is also extremely important. For example- Manish Pandey was thrown out of the side earlier or Jadhav did not have proper chance after dominating Indian domestic circut, but Kohli gave both of them chances. Both aren’t is not as young as Pant but Kohli did is ensurinf they are not thrown out that easily. Chahal and Kuldeep are our regular now and Ashwin and Jadeja are far away from our ODI team unlike before. You want India to play 3 match odi series since the 5 match series are getting boring for you guys, you also want to see youngsters play and you also want to see players who are playing from the past get proper chance before getting dropped - not all these things can happen together. We can’t put all under 23 guys into Indian team over night or play them into Indian team together in few series. It takes time. There is a thing called Transition. This is Indian team and we can’t do the Delhi Daredevils stupidity of playing all youngsters together like they did in the past few years and then lost every game. You have to do proper transition. Players will get their chance. Give some time to Kohli, please. Not all his selections are right but he wants to win the world cup or series overseas bady just like all of us fans. He will leave no stone unturned. Rate him after 2019 wc. Link to comment

This is undeniable, esp. for CT 2017 - selection of Ash/Jaddu, opting to field, etc. Even in 2016 T20, our batting approach in SF was flawed, and I think that some of the bowlers were not properly selected. However, the real event to watch out for is 2019 WC. Link to comment

I don't see why Raina should be in the team if "youth" is being given a chance. Would rather see Sundar there - with Raina's fielding decline, Sundar is a better bowler and a better fielder I think. Alternatively, Krunal Pandya could play. Link to comment
