Trichromatic
Back in 2002, wisden rated 1999 WC semi final as best ODI match of that time. http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/8039/scorecard/65233/australia-vs-south-africa-2nd-sf-world-cup-1999 At that time it had everything. SA were probably best team then. Pacers taking wickets, collapse, rebuilding innings, spinners taking wickets and then late blitz by Klusener ending in dramatic tie. They televised it on DD1, so luckily we managed to watch it live. Which match do you think has been the best ever? Aus-SA match at Johannesberg. 400+ scored for first time and chased after time. Something like that has never happened again till now. 12 years from then and it still looks unbelievable. http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/14676/scorecard/238200/south-africa-vs-australia-5th-odi-australia-tour-of-south-africa-2005-06/ MechEng 1 Link to comment
Jimmy Cliff
It's still the 1999 WC SF. A Shakespearean tragedy of a game. The Unrealist and Gollum 2 Link to comment
Tibarn
I think the best for me is the 2011 WC QF between India, Australia. http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/8039/scorecard/433601/india-vs-australia-2nd-quarter-final-world-cup-2010-11/ We were at home, and this was our chance to win a WC after a few decades, but we run into the best ODI team of the last decade plus. It felt like the real final for the WC, even playing Pak or SL the next two rounds was less intense, because I felt that we were favorites over them both. Ricky Ponting had a great innings with a century at an 88 SR, which was high for that time, but we won with an all-around team effort with 3 different players scoring a half-century(Gambhir, Sachin, and Yuvraj) and a young Raina having a clutch 30+ score. YCCC
Best one I've seen. NZ v Aus 2015. Love a low scoring thriller. Remarkable though it was, 400+ plays 400+ with bowlers being of no use whatsoever just does not interest me. The Unrealist and Gollum 1 1 Link to comment
MechEng
Not the best ODI game of all time but one of my favourites. Pakistan all out for a cheap score on good batting pitch, and even though the target was very easy to get, Wasim Akram with his great spell of swing bowling made sure Australia does not get easy runs. http://www.espncricinfo.com/series/8531/scorecard/65552/australia-vs-pakistan-12th-match-aus-tri-series-cb-1996-97/ Gollum and adi B 1 1 Link to comment

What's even more surprising is that Wasim single handedly made this into a contest, else Australia would have chased this down in 35 overs easily. Edited June 18, 2018 by MechEng Link to comment

In an earlier game in the same series, Pak actually defended a sub-150 total with Akram taking 3/13. Even Bevan couldn't pull that one off. This was a brutal series with 3 top notch attacks making life really hard for the batsmen. Only Lara stood out IIRC. A pity the finals were too one-sided. Gollum 1 Link to comment

Poor Hansie was not out though. IIRC he claimed to stay awake at nights looking for that one run that would have won them the game . SK_IH 1 Link to comment

Spot on I was having cramps at the end of match , I was so tense , semis and finals were cakewalk compared to it. Aussies knew how to win big matches and Indian were known for losing big matches.
