Agreed, that's the conundrum. Similar to how you can't play in subcontinent without Ashwin and Jadeja, you can't go without Pujara in subcontinent. The last two series in subcontinent where came from behind to win series (in SL and against Aus) were primarily bcos of Pujara and Rahul (in Australia series).

Us fans don't realize the luxury  of having a batsman as good as Pujara. 

 

Also he is a bit unlucky that he is playing in an era where the overall quality of fast bowling has improved compared to 2000s for every country barring maybe Pakistan. Sehwag and Laxman are lucky that they are not playing in the current era, because if they did then their overseas stats would take a big hit.

Easier said than done. If we had 4 settled batsmen, we could rotate between Pujara and Rahane as the 5th batsman depending on whether we are playing in the sub-con or not. But right now, apart from Kohli and Vijay to an extent, nobody else is sure of their place in the side. I'd gave him the first 2-3 Tests in England. If he flops, then we need to move on from him for good outside the sub-con and give a long rope to someone like a Gill rather than replacing him with frauds like Dhawan and Rohit.

Batting is a Practice Art( Since i Open), with Practice Art, i mean the more you practice , more you suceed.

if one is in good form , it makes a big difference, this form has some thing to do with mental make up, feet movement etc...if one is not in the right frame , he fails.

this guy is a PAIN for Bowlers and as soon as he gets his rhythm in england, he will Suceed big time unless he gets into the Zero Scoring mood.

what is BATTING?

Their are two style of Batting , one is the spontaneous Sehwag style in which the batsman sees the ball out from the hand and kinda gets into the Swing Mood and plays like Sehwag.

Second is the Sedate and Slow style Watch the ball Hit or touch your Bat and watch the ball till it hits you or u hit the ball, see the ball connecting to your bat....I follow the second Style Normally as most batsman bat in this style, first style is normally the style of batting that Bowlers do..kinda Slog Style of batting.

 

 

these top batsman are so very good in this Second style of batting that it becomes very very difficult to beat their EYES.

Agreed, I am not saying to drop him for Eng tour as we don't have any better options. But we do need to start grooming youngsters instead of recycling oldies and discards like Gambhir, Mukund, Dhawan, Rohit, Parthiv, etc which is what Kohli has been doing since he took over captaincy almost 4 years ago.

He has been around for a while and if there is still no confidence in him to carry on after a start, then it's more to do with skills than confidence.

This. If he doesn't find confidence after playing 55+ tests, how much time will he take? 80 tests? Players get those many matches in their entire career.

I had a soft spot for Pujara. Used to think he wasn't given the respect that he deserved by the team management.

However, the two run-outs in RSA and this disastrous season with Yorkshire has really turned me off.

 

I wouldn't be too shocked if he starts India-England series on the bench with KL taking his place at number 3.

However, if he does get make it into starting XI, he will have to treat each test innings as the most important test innings of his life. Couple more test failures and he may never get a chance to represent India again in any format of the game.
