Lol at Rashid Khan and Gul being there

Rashid has had 1 good season, and they are already anointing him. Sunil Narine is better, has a longer history, and is even a gifted batsman now!

Gul is overrated by the cricinfo jury, I much rather have an allrounder like Watson/Andre Russel at that spot, or a far superior bowler like Starc, even BK is better than Gul

Rohit is ok, but Warner is arguable with him, but neither has great numbers in international T20s  iirc

Dhoni also weak number wise in internationals, it is probably better to make McCullum or ABD the keeper of the side instead and add a superior batsman

My edited team

1. Gayle

2. Watson

3. Kohli

4. AB

5. Raina

6. McCullum (wk)(c)

7. Andre Russel

8. Bravo

9. Narine

10. Afridi

11. Malinga

Batting power until 10 and 6-8 bowling options(Gayle and Raina are good part timers)

Raina :cantstop:

This team is clearly based on all-time records, rather than current form.

Gul faded away after injury and was basically cannon fodder for a while. But there was a stretch where he was quite dependably good in T20s, and he has the stats to reflect that.  You can argue that even Dwayne Bravo as of today, is not quite the player he used to be.

Fair team from a historical perspective.

Dhoni in a t20 team? :hysterical:   that joker wouldn't find a place even in Papua new Guineas t20 team :phehe: Sammy should be the captain.

Dhoni in a t20 team  that too as a captain is a perfect recipe of disaster even then if you still want him as a captain then just forget about gul and malinga you will have mohit sharma and and unadcut opening the bowling for you, joginder sharma as allrounder, jaddu as spinner, ishant as bowling coach, raina as number 4 and badrinath opening the batting for you, the drama of you scratch my back first then I will back you will start, csk quota will be introduced, fast bowlers will be humiliated in public. etc etc etc. :phehe:

Raina along with yuvi are only world class T20 batsmen we have produced. You are just going by current form.

Always suspect against genuine pace even if you disregard current form. Yes, great T20 player for us but world XI not sure.

Is the team selected on T20I performances or overall T20 performances ?

If it is based on T20I performances only, some of the selections are awful. AB and Dhoni for sure don't deserve to be in there, may be Bravo too. Finch, Maxwell, Watson, Tahir and Narine have fantastic records/performances in T20Is.

Rohit is getting a lot of stick here.

Again if T20I performances is the criteria, he has been better than AB, Dhoni, Warner etc. He is not a shoe-in like Gayle, Kohli, Malinga etc. but his selection is not the worst. AB and Dhoni are the most dodgy selections. Bravo and Afridi are debatable.

They've only included the T20I stats for these players and barring McCullum's 158, all the best performances highlighted are from T20Is so it's fair to assume it's based on T20I performances only.

i think it is a mix. if it was only T20Is, Rashid would not have been there who has barely played any T20Is against stronger teams.  They might have listed their best innings from international but most probably they have counted all T20 cricket.

I don't think they've given it that much thought :winky:. With Rashid it's just a case of him being such a great story of being the no. 1 ranked T20I bowler in the world while playing for Afghanistan.
