Raina should have gotten the axe not Rahul. But his "invaluable" 30 odd kept him? lol. Having said that KL Rahul is doing a great disservice to himself knowing very well he could be in the chopping block.  He should give himself some time before attacking. Otherwise this pattern will continue. He scored a 100. Then 3 failures in a row.

This is not just in LOIs, but tests also KLR gets dropped for Dhawan. In essence he is not allowed to be settled even in a single format.

Replacing Raina/Dhoni with DK would have been a masterstroke. But, replacing KL with DK has exposed that certain players get a much longer rope in the team than others.

 

Players who are in Kohli/Dhoni's friends group keep getting chances repeatedly even after multiple failures. Kohli and Dhoni have taken their bias in team selection to unheard levels IMO.

Raina can't play short ball, can't play spin, can't bat for more than 10 overs and he plays whereas Rahul is dropped.
