Ganguly should use his authority & never let King Kohli drop Pant again. KL Rahul as WK batsman should stop, the lengths TM had gone to lol

Very well said by Rohit. I also thought once Pant understands his game, he ll become more consistent. That applies even to limited overs cricket. He has a game plan now, teams will keep worrying about the imminent six while he builds an innings.

People like Ganguly and Rohit understand youngsters better and know how to back the right talent.

Which us why they were / are good captains.

Exactly. Ganguly was great at backing talent. Imagine if Sehwag played under Kohli, he would have been criticized for playing "irresponsibly" and thrown out of the team after a couple of failures.

One minor criticism - he was exhausted by the time he had reached his 60s. Needs to knock off a few more kilos and improve his stamina and endurance strength

He was cramping in heat. His fitness is top notch and he is a gymnast. He has scored over 300 in domestics in similar circumstances. People just go by body type

Arrey I can claim to be his biggest supporter on this forum :p:

He has bulked up slightly, going back to how he was pre-covid is what he should aim for

Easy to say now, with the match at a knife's edge getting caught at slip reversing the new ball from Anderson , don't think it would have gone down smoothly.

As Gavaskar says. He must be seeing the ball like football.

I find it hard to believe ,he is such a hack but hand eye coordination and shot selection bails him out.

Are we watching the same player? Pant has one of the tightest techniques going around. It's just that there are other things such as his hand-eye, and an expansive stroke-array built on that defense too.

When Pant played that shot India were in a pretty good position he was batting on 89 and India's lead was 40. That's the way he plays and has been very successful. He has already played many more impact innings than our top order batsman in recent times. If anybody is to be blamed it's the miserable performance of our top order.

1) It was not at knifes edge when he played that shot

2) He knew Anderson with new ball was biggest threat to India so it was a calculated attack in order to throw him off. He succeeded, it was the only wicket india lost in third  session. This is exactly how he targeted Lyon in Australia

3) in post game he told that him and management had a plan on what score to reach before attacking. So he felt safe attacking at that score, team had already crossed the score they had decided

4) he knew exact length and spot Anderson was bowling, so just like he charged previous over, he knew from that length ball will carry over slips if he reverses

what? it's close even now ,wont be easy to chase even 100 odd in the 4th inning

Indian management had said, once they took a lead they felt safe . 100 runs lead is definitely not close on this pitch. Its not close on any pitch, but here even more so
