Rahul is atleast scoring in a no pressure situation

What are you smoking? They are trying to save the match in deteriorating conditions. Only thing is approach is different instead of the customary block-a-thon.

So according to you he should have joined the procession March yday when we were 2/3 . You are saying as if it's a pancake wkt . We are in 4th inning and still trying to save our ass and the guy made 68% of total score need some appreciation and post 2nd test he has improved a lot. These conditions are very harsh for opner even English opner failed miserably. Eng performed better than us coz they have good lower middle order and thts the major difference between these 2 teams.

Learn to read, where did I say he should join the procession or shouldn't score? Rahul has failed consistently this series in every match that counts. I am free to judge him by that. You guys can praise him for this dead rubber century to your heart's content. I already stated that he shouldn't be an opener and should be moved to the middle order somewhere.

Also this opener excuse in nonsense. The English commentators themselves were trashing Cook and Jennings this entire series for their poor performances. They didn't blame the conditions. Only in the 2nd match was it unplayable.

Tell that to Laxman whose 167 in Australia saved his career that also has a 281., Indians call the greatest innings by an Indian in Test cricket.

Cool, so Rahul scoring in a dead rubber will prove to make him into VVS. Whatever you say... You are free to think so!

Rahane plays at 5 and Rahul takes first ball strike for the team. Do u see any difference there?

Again with the opener excuse. I'm sure that excuse works for his failure in SA as well

Not to mention that the #3s in this series have played in similar conditions to the openers, Root and Pujara, and both of them outperformed Rahul. :hysterical:

Just saw Rahanes dismissal, you simply can't get out like that after batting nearly 100 balls, especially if you are trying to save a match.

Kick him

Rahane has become king of soft dismissals. Watch him playing at home & frankly you'd lose your cool when he gifts his wicket.

But everyone knows Dhawan is a hack in SENA countries (except Kohli and Shastri apparently)!

I disagree on Rahane. He has outplayed Rahul this series, although they are both poor overall this series(and Rahane should be dropped for the WI home series).

Rahane has an 80 at Nottingham (Test we won) and a 50 at Southampton in a tough 4th innings chase (we lost).

Perhaps but among this lot , rahane is expected to score heavily abroad seeing as he is woeful against spin and therefore is the weak link in this lineup in Asia. The others all can bully bowlers in Asian conditions and win matches.

There is obviously less pressure than when the series is alive. If Rahul keeps scoring today and saves the match it would be a good effort no doubt.

Yes, that is why Rahul should probably replace Rahane in the middle order if Kohli shifts him there. Rahul has a better record vs spin and his naturally aggressive game will fit better at 5 than at 1/2

That because Mrs.Kohli needs a shopping partner on away tours and Mrs.Dhawan is the one.

Agreed. I wanna see Shaw and Mayank or someone else open against Windies and Rahul at 5 against Windies.

When did root outperform Rahul....and ya this is his first series in extreme eng and SA condition where everyone failed virtually combined both team whose name was not kohli. Btw comparison to mature and averaging more than 50 to a comparatively newbie who is playing his first series in eng would mot make your rational any stronger.
