I  don't know what their ideal team composition was, they batted keeper up the order so they could accomidate another bowler or batsman. I can't comment on it but coach should have that choice to pick and choose players.No coach would willingly lose match to spite a player.He would not be coach for long if he does it.

 

Greg Chappel had right intentions, he wanted to get rid of me first players and create team first attitude.His communication skill might have been lacking but his intentions were not wrong.There was no team first attitude during Fab five era.

No sympathies. BCCI is the only  corporation where the best employee doesn’t get a watch and a thank you plaque after his or her time is up. In fact the employee is made entitled and their birth right to run amok.

 

She was done and the team management was well within their rights to feel that way.

EVerything you are saying is correct but how fair is it to replace Mithali with an opener who has not even scored 100 runs in her career and averages 9? If you see her bat (Tamana Bhatia), you'll reminded of Sameer Dighe, cannot hit the ball beyond the 30 yard circle! 

 

Also, unlike Ganguly, Mithali has said any issues with Harmanpreet is for them to sit and resolve. Her issue is with Edulji and coach. IIRC Ganguly had said some nasty things about Dravid indirectly calling him a yes man of Chappel.

TOI has reported a BCCI administrator was interfering in team selection during Asia Cup. He did not want Dhoni to be given the captaincy when Rohit rested during the Asia Cup. He's even alleged to have got a C grade player a B grade contract.

One does not replace a performing player with a nobody in the all important semi final match of a WC. Dirty politics. Completely with Mithali Raj.

They won against Australia without her and so they wanted to play the same team, if they had won it would have been a non story. Result should not dictate whether decision is right or wrong.

Powar only thing I can point out is he should have conveyed it to her face his intentions. But we don't know what was going on , as per the letter we can safely assume Raj feels somehow team and nation is obligated to her for her services in past.So they should keep on picking her in playing 11.

I can understand her disappointment but match winner like Kumble was dropped from finals in world cup because captain thought other player gave him better chance to win.But he did not throw a tantrum like this.

 

 

I don't know how people who don't know anything can spout bull **** with such confidence. Have you even been followong the world cup? The strike rates of other teams? The finals scores in the semi final matches and final 

 

Mithali would have made a HUGE difference in a low scoring game on a slow pitch where our batsmen got out trying to hit every ball. She was a clear match winner on those pitched. The the gall to LIE about past when she is scoring in the PRESENT is ridiculous. This entire post seems like someone who made his opinion based on news articles and not seeing a single ball except harpreerts highlights

Point is...if she was having so many problems,she should have brought them up earlier and not because she was dropped.

 

She has been playing for 20 years.She has been skipper for a long time too. How would she like if her decision to drop or picked was turned into national drama?

 

How would she feel if one of the players went over her and the coach to get the batting position of her choice?

 

Now the captain and coach can't change batting order or drop a player! Why have a coach and captain. Let Mitali continue as captain for ever.

 

How can she complain about the coach undermining her when she went over the coaches head to get his decision overturned regarding her batting spot? Does the coach not deserve respect? Does this not humiliate the coach in front of hos team?

 

She is a sore ex captain and being petty .

So if she brought them earlier while WC was on you would be first one to say why didn't she let it get over first.

The thing is the decision to drop her wasn't of captain. Mithali is accusing Coach which is fine generally and edulji of interference which is not fine. Harmanpreet just went along with the decision. Besides let's not kid ourselves she was replaced by somebody who is not even 5% of Mithali's capabilities. You may not be aware but besides few India's bench strength is extremely poor.
