Dude 1-2 good innings overseas per tour doesn't make him the best player. Even this Eng tour which you are calling a fail, he did the same.

What is expected out of Rahane is what Virat did in Eng this tour , SA this year and Aus last tour.CONSISTENT performances, if he does that no one will ever question him.

He played a superb innings today with the perfect approach, carrying on from his innings at Adelaide, which was great to see. It's up to him now to make this tour his own.

In WI- 2 out 4

In ENG- 5 in 20...even kohli record wud be near about in england

Apart from england he has been consistent everywhere , he pretty much scoring 50% tour which is damn good. U cant avg 50+ overseas scoring 1-2 innings 

 

Virat is on a diff level

Has to be MSD. We became no 1 and if not series atleats started winning away tests instead of being blanked out, ever since he decided to stay away from test cricket.

Rahane has been guilty of throwing away his wkts from scores of 60s 70s ,he has to make it count big when he comes to bat tomorrow. These 60s wont help India's cause and till then his batsmanship will be under scrutiny,needs to score big tomorrow

He has been very bad in tons scored. Probably 4 tons in last 3 years iirc. Has to contribute big runs like a senior player and more tons should be there.

As a SENA specialist, more is expected of him. Scoring a 50 is almost like a minimum requirement

Think we have to keep expectations moderate apart from Virat and Pujara who are big scorers.

 

The positive side is that although he isn't a world-class batsman or big innings player he is better than Rahul, Dhawan, Vijay types by a fair margin.  His average of 42 and his 50 odd knocks are valuable in perspective.

It is such  a shame that we have only 1 genuine batsman in Kohli who can  be the part of that top 6 from bye gone era, namely FAB4 + Sehwag + Gambhir. All the others are far off. Is it because of  scarcity of reserves??? Big no...... lots of promising youngsters are there waiting for chances. But Kohli & other blood sucking leeches make sure  that the team always remain this way.

Add 34 at Melbourne where Pujara scored a 100, Kohli 80 odd and Agarwal 70 odd .... Let's sing for the unsung hero

I think pujara is not bad considering his contribution in this series...

Also Ganguly as a batsman in the Fab-4 is questionable

Srt, Rd, vvs and sehwag were fab4 , not Ganguly.

Sehwag was a part of fab4. Srt, Rd, vvs, viru. These 4 were Fab 4.
