Stop it. MSK seems to be the best selector we had in years. He selected pant, Gill, agarawal, Siraj , kulcha, bumrah etc. He does watch ranji as well.

Agreed. I don’t think anybody has control over the decision on MSD but he has given a lot of deserving youngsters a shot be it Shaw,Gill,Aggarwal,Vihari,Khaleel,Siraj,Pant,Krunal Pandya,Shankar,Sundar. Probably has been one of the better selectors in recent times.

Infact most players hyped on ICF to team selection ratio was the highest in his tenure.

This is naughty MSK back when he was just a shitty keeper bat. In case someone is wondering how Vijay Bharadwaj's career was cut short :phehe:

I remember him getting bowled on a fulltoss in Australia. If you had forgotten about it,  Vikrant Gupta On those cringeworthy shows makes it a point to mention it and remind that  every time he speaks about MSK Prasad.

Having said that a I genuinely think MSK has been alright as a selector

Vikrant Gupta is a tool of the highest order, never had time for his stupid shows and opinions.

MSK hasn't been brave enough, and very poor planning for the WC. Failed to induct youngsters in middle order (UV, Dhoni, Raina in England last summer ) and failed to develop back up for our quicks. Kaul, Dhawal, Thakur etc were absolute shockers. We are losing the WC in its weakest edition (ever, from 1975 onwards !!!) and he will have a lot to answer for the impending debacle.

Selectors job is to pick the squad, not the playing X1. A lot of youngsters got their shot and at the same time the veterans got back based on their own strong performances be it Yuvi or DK.

Khaleel got a fair run and he failed to capitalize. Siraj yes didn’t get enough opportunities in ODIs but looked out of sorts every time. Bumrah Bhuvi and Shami all 3 of them looked like they belong from their first game.

Our opening is going be Shaw and Aggarwal going forward and they both got inducted into the side.

Pant is our regular keeper now in tests

Vihari got a fair run

Shankar,Krunal  and Sundar got fair chances.

You can argue Raina was a bad pick and may be Nair got a bad deal.

Apart from that they did maintain a right balance. It is the team management that messed up the combos.

What strong performance did UV deliver to warrant a comeback. Hell there were 4 other kids outscoring him in the Punjab side. Don't follow IPL but I doubt he created waves there either. DK had that Nidahas final and made it to our test side? He still doesn't deserve a spot in our ODI squad, strictly a T20 specialist.

Khaleel and Siraj aren't our only young promising quicks in the sidelines. Rajpoot, Saini, Mavi etc should have been pushed over mediocrities like Kaul and Dhawal....and the process should have started much earlier. Ignoring an ODI gun like Shami for so long was a stupid move, had he not done well in the recent games maybe he wouldn't have made the WC cut. Tough for the bowlers to immediately deliver after long periods of inactivity, and Shami is very much a rhythm bowler.

They should have debuted earlier. What was Dhawan doing for so long, that too outside Asia? Vijay didn't deserve to board the flight to Oz.

And MSD is our regular keeper in the other 2 formats. 1 step forward, 2 steps back. And WTH was Parthiv doing in the squad in Oz? What did he do to deserve a recall? Didn't he drop like 5-6 catches in Centurion? Why no push for Ishan Kishan in the easier ODI/T20 matches? Where is the planning? In 2019, we have Parthiv and DK in the scheme of things, they were there even in 2004 and were never good enough for the highest level.

For every Vihari, there is a Nair.

Krunal and Shankar, too late. Can't give them chances 6 months before a world event and expect them to make a case. The process should have started in 2016 or latest immediately after the 2017 CT disaster. What is Jadeja still doing in white ball formats? Why is the selection so inconsistent, a player gets a series, doesn't play a match and then dropped for next series.

Raina was a horrible pick. But those ODI and T20 series against England had a number of bad picks-Axar, Umesh, Kaul, Dhawal, Shardul, Chahar...this against the best ODI side on the planet.

TM sucks balls, agree. Kohli is a dunce and Shastri isn't helping matters. But their ineptness doesn't excuse the poor performance of the selectors. Where are the brave calls? Why aren't the big stars getting dropped? How is Rahane still a certainty and VC in the test team? Hell the likes of Srinath, VVS, Sehwag, Dada, Kumble, Zak used to get dropped over non-performance, why has that trend stopped now. Is representing Team India a public sector job?
