The likes of jadhav, yuvi, karthik and all others never got a chance to consolidate like thala. I asked before I will ask again. Show me a list of matches where dhoni came in and took the initiative in the last 8 years. Its sad right. You said yuvi has been washed up for 8 years, but still whenever he and dhoni played, yuvi still played better. I highlighted two matches before. That is something dhoni hasn’t done in what’s 7 years. It’s been 7 years since the 2012 Chennai match where I can recall dhoni was the outstanding performer in the match. Remember that match last year, where dhoni was supposedly consolidating at one end, he needed the likes of bhuvi to bail him out. The two recent matches in Australia were only won because of karthik and jadhavs knock. They have to play like this. They simply can’t afford to pitch a tent like dhoni at the other end while the rrr keeps increasing. as we have seen in the last 5 years, dhoni is only good to hold up one end. He can neither accelerate against international attacks or come in and keep the rrr manageable. difference between yuvi and thala is that thala will hold up one end and play meaningless knocks and yuvi can come in and destroy attacks like he did in 2016. its sad we haven’t found a proper number 4 because we are busy accommodating one hasbeen whos busy consolidating at the other end and others are forced to take risks.
