Our top 3 can't make room for KL in there, considering the form he's in?

Warner & Smith dropped themselves a position each, surely KL deserves that chance at least for the warmups!

And you're saying the best batter in the world can't bat one down than his normal position? And speaking of consistency, what's his record in WC at 3 anyway?

Take out the minnows & this is what it looks like, now granted he wasn't in form back in 2015 the new ball threat is still there though.

i didnt say he cant....i said he wont be that effective so wasnt sachin when he went at 4 didnt mean he failed

A player a is adapted to his role playing their for years u cant just change all of sudden. He himself has said he feels comfertable at 3 as he can control the game ...and why not him he is the best....,no one can come close

Wc is the only cricket thats played.....his record was even same when he batted at 4 in 2011 wc

Nothing two suggest Sachin was not effective at 4 , like wise Virat should be fine at 4 ..even more so considering hes made little impact at 3 in LOIs for past 2-3 years

Even when we sent a depleted side to nidahas trophy , the opening pair wasnt changed you really think they will give some one an opportunity in WC ? There is a reason these two never get rested .

He wasnt ......his impact runs werent same

Batsman like kohli , sachin when they get early runs in PP its gives them a start ...whereas afterwards the same shots goes for 1-2s

coming at 1 down is diff then 2 down

Virat wud be fine but wnt be as effective ....we saw in CB series 2015 and even in home series against Sa.......as soon as he got back at 3 both times he made runs. We saw same in t20s ......he was batting at 4 his numbers werent same and as soon as he batted at 3 in last t20 against Aus he won us a game . U dnt fix what aint broken for someone like Rahul who himself isnt batting at its best

Biggest point is neither sachin was happy nor is virat with position change and u always want to keep ur best players happy as they ll win u most games. If u expect results from them let them do it in their way

Rohit can drop down to #4 as he is too slow in PP, while his conversation rate to big scores is not good for someone playing such slow cricket. His record in ICC vs major teams is a wash. Likely to do well vs AFG, BD, etc.,

KL/ Rohit

Dhawan

Kohli

Rohit/KL

Pandya

Dhoni

Jadeja / Jadhav

Bhuvi / Chahal

Kuldeep / Chahal

Shami

Bumrah

This is where I disagree with most fans , the highlighted part is true for every batsmen ..let the lesser batsmen do the easier job  , not the other way around

nothing is easy , if it was evry wud have gr8 records like sachin n kohli

KL has had his opp.....less i agree but he hasnt converted even those....i have sympathy for that but that shudnt make us change ppl who have so damn well....

KL has had 7 chances to open innings in which he has nothing to show apart from a 100 against zimb, 7 chances are very less but cant move these guys and when he batted at 3 against aus also he didnt look very comfortable

If KL has to play , play at 4 and he has done that in t20 and done well to

Probably an experiment after the world cup. Rahul is slightly a better player against spin compared to the other two. Overall there is room for improvement against spin from all including Kohli. But Rohit getting exposed to spinners straight away is way too risky. In Asia cup he was all too comfortable until Shadab came on. Got bowled to an innocuous delivery.

Instead, Why can't Rahul just bat at 4?

If he's really that good that people want him to replace arguably the best no.3 odi batsman of all time, then why can't he slack up and play at 4?

Unnecessary to change the top 3 now , as it will only derail the only good  thing about our team.

Spot on , why should three people change their position for one player. If Rahul is any good, he should bat at no4 period.

Plus has more issues in middle

His strike rotation isnt as good as rahuls

He doesnt play under pressure so opening is better where he can dictate pace rather when its 2 down

HE enjoys ball coming on bat rather at 2 when it doesnt

More so his mindset is adjusted to that role for years now

Yes off-lately rohit has struggled against leggies to

So basically our top 3 can't bat out of heir comfort zone, when the time comes they'll fail as usual & our middle order won't get enough game time so they'll flop as well. Our only hope is bowlers but even there a par total is what we're unlikely to chase in a KO, bat first & score big is the only way we'll win any of the important games.
