Looking at the pitches it is all about temperament. Not technique. Even hacks can get away on these surfaces. NZ/Australia have some power hitters down the order who can rack up 100 runs in easily in the last 10 overs. Asian sides will be at a distinct disadvantage as almost all the teams lack finishers. They can go at 5 runs per over for 40 overs from 200 they can reach 300 to 320 easily in the last 10.

For some guys scoring 100s in QFs or world cup and semi finals in CT is trivial but scoring 70 odd against Pakistan where match was long gone is a bigger achievement.

He only played 1 WC So sample set is too low.

I have already said that Rohit is a good bilateral series player, along with being a minnow basher, where you get to play the same team again and again and where you come up with some good tracks to get going

World events require the ability to adjust by playing constantly vs different teams which are usually full strength. I have confidence in Rohit’s ability to bash minnows/relatively weaker teams but not so much vs major sides. If AGF, BD and SL are on menu, he could get good scores. Add WI too on a good surface. But not too sure vs SENA teams in SENA. He has to pull up his socks

He is also past his best now. Plays at an unacceptable low SR. Don’t forget that I used to support him but doing it now is not favouring India

Yet the team will end up with 350 max because of how slowly he starts. On such roads, every team will fancy chasing that score.

Very reason we are backing one dimensional bowlers is not to give away 350 runs. If guys like Bumrah/Shami/Kuldeep/Chahal cannot stop us from conceding 350 runs what is the use of them? We might as well go with Thakur, Bhuvi, Chahar atleast they can bat a bit. Our batting line up can play with freedom.

Our bowling attack is overrated.
