Wc: India XI handicapped by poor fielders

Chahal, Shami, Rohit, Jadhav, Bumrah

 

That's nearly half of team who are slow, lethargic and catching ability is below international standards. These five could prove costly in:

- dropping simple catches

- 99% unlikely to take those 50/50 catches

-unable to stop quick twos and threes

-unlikely to create run out opportunities

-unable to do those diving boundaries saves

-poor arm

 

The only dynamic fielder is Pandya.

 

At some point, I can see Jadeja coming into starting XI because of added benefits of his fielding

 

IPL we saw so many dropped catches by seasoned international players, just hope these five can punch above their weight

Shami a fast bowler is acceptable fielder. Chahal is poor in every sense. Bumra has improved but still needs a lot of work.  Rohit is a safe fielder and unfair to put him with chahal or bhumra. Kedar for a backup keeper is poor fielder.

Unfair to list Rohit in it. He is a safe catcher and decent fielder even with his tummy. 

To add to your list, Dhawan and Kohli are the worst catchers especially Kohli.

Kuldeep is no better than them so I picked the name op missed. He isn't a good fielder everyone knows that. You don't any gripe to say that.

They are going to WC without any training camp like ipl was world class standard.

At least have some fielding and catching drills for the team.

Nonsense. Kuldeep is not worse or equal to Chahal, Jadhav and Bumrah. It's very clear you have a strong dislike for Kuldeep which clouds your judgement. Shami is another misfit in the list of OP.

Training camps help little. Need some rest after a hectic high profile tournament like IPL.

This thread is a bit OTT, i think we are just fine as a fielding unit, we are not the best but not the worst either, we have a couple of weak links agreeably, but overall with jadeja in and out as a substitute, backed by kohli, rahul, pandya, shankar, we have a good mix.

I have to second the poster above me. I think our ground fielding is especially decent. Overall, I'd say we'll end up being above average in terms of fielding. 

 

Certainly you won't  see the comedy of errors that we witnessed during the recent Eng vs Pak series!
