KL right now seems out of touch. Down the order he can ease himself into the match situation without the pressure to open. Looks like India have decided the openers for the WC are going to be Rohit & KL, nothing wrong with it. But what would one more failure at the top do to his confidence & the team’s confidence in him? Why move Rahul down, you are talking after the the result. Rahul is the opener for this team and it is good thing that they have shown faith.Rahul should be opener for this team and IMO Rahul is miles ahead of Kishen as a T20 player. I am more pissed off that they brought Pant into the team.Pant is not needed for this team, Pant having success in test cricket does not mean he should have the same success in t20s and odis. Having three wicket keepers and just five bowlers is ruining the balance for this team.Rahul was doing fine job as keeper and opener in T20s and middle order in odis ,what is need to change that option. neel roy Posted March 17, 2021 Posted March 17, 2021 Can anyone tell me whether KL Rahul has ever played a substantial innings on a pacy and bouncy track? The 2 SENA Centuries he scored was in sydney and oval. The two most flattest decks across SENA. Even his t20 hundreds in England or Windies all came in flat decks. He struggled in wcup semi final. The only innings of substance he has ever played was in blore test 2017 but that was a spinning track.. is he only good in good batting conditions? Frustrated 1

Why was he made to open if he was not looked at as an opener? This is classic Kohli, just absolutely random flip flops. Don't defend everything that Kohli does. I am not defending anything.Rohit was not in team so Kishen opened, Once Rohit came back Kishen moved down and everyone in batting order moved down. Why is all of sudden Kishen is being annoited as an opener based on one match?BTW he looked overmatched against pace yesterday too.I don't think Kishen is better in any aspect than either Rahul or Rohit. Weren't you one who said Rahul should have been candidate to become Indian captain and now you want him to move from opener spot for player who played one match.

Issue is constant tinkering and redefining a strategy and giving opponents a chance. Did you see how Buttler smoked Chahal. The game was lost then and there. It created doubts in minds of the spinner. Stepping out and hitting. What did Rohit and Rahul do. They gave respect to Rashid and got 5 runs with 3 dot balls. Now imagine Kishan in same position. Irrespective of final result he would have tried to hit Rashid. And thats where the difference lies. Intent. Sehwag was not a good batsman because he was technically gifted great timer etc. But his intent made bowlers lose their lines and that led them to bowl defensively against him in first ten overs. Against Rohit and Rahul bowlers dont fear their intent and so they can stick to their line and length and that leads to good balls..we need at least one batsman with intent top of the order like Kishan. Nz have it in Guptill Munro. Aus in Warner. England in Roy.

Not everybody can be Sehwag so stop comparing him to anyone.Sehwag had great technique against spinners, it is against fast bowler he had issues. Again you are expecting Indian batsmen to play like Butler, no one in Indian team has his ability to score fast.He is special that's why they moved him to become opener. Yes it might have changed against Rashid but they might not have opened with Rashid either, Did anyone stop Kishen from scoring at number 3.All of sudden batting at number 3 has caused Kishen to fail.Did his intent goaway when he batted at number 3. BTW I don't mind Kishen opening but it is not end of the world if he bats at number 3. Can Rahul discover his mojo is the bigger question along with team composition.Having three wicket keepers in playing XI is ridiculous. They have to make a choice only one among all the three wicket keepers should play and other two places should go a bowler and a guy like SKY.

We need more part time bowlers than wicketkeepers. The story goes like this: previously in days of sachin dada we did not have guys like raghu who ll do throwdowns all day and we also did not have intl quality/ ipl quality net bowlers. So yuvraj raina dada Sehwag Sachin all used to bowl for half an hour in nets. Nowadays the contingent is so large you have these good net bowlers plus ball throwers which has made the batsman focus only on battinh and fielding and not part time bowling.. nevada 1

Gayle and Simmons can open and hit boundaries.Marlon Samuels role was to play anchor and then hit. Pollard Braithwaite and Sammy all could bowl and hit, DK, Rahul and Pant are all wicket keepers who bring no bowling to the table.

How many keeper is irrelevant if they can get in as batsman

Firstly no I didn't say Rahul is a captaincy candidate lol where did you get that from I think the main point here is beyond your comprehension. The point about continuity of a player & his position. He has done that throughout whether it's Rahul, Pant, Iyer & now the latest offering with Kishan. Now that he has said Rahul is their first choice opener, it's ll not be far fetched to see him play down the order or dropped next game. This is how he operates. Suhaan 1
