People were laughing when I said I would put Rohit in all time playing XI along with Sachin. This guy can literally put the team on his back and carry it.

He has weakness against moving ball, every batsman has some weakness.

Out of context question. Why Lara opened so less time? just 50 odd innings but he averaged 46 which is way more than #3 or #4 position where he batted most of time.

lara was a superb ODI opener in the early and mid 90s, but what happened is that their middle order kept getting progressively weaker; for e.g., they lost richie richardson (who could hold an end up) in 1996. Hence, I think the TM decided that he could add more stability there. Ind did not face the same issue with SRT because our middle order was still pretty good in the 1990s in ODIs, even if not as good as the 2000s. We had Ajay Jadeja and Azhar and Robin Singh was a decent utility player.

 

also, they tried moving lara back up the order after some yrs, but by then he'd lost his mojo.
